I've pieced it together.
On December 1, A Senate vote was held on the original bill. Demint voted yes.
On December 15, a vote was held on the joined house and senate bills. Demint voted no.

This seems right. Well its good that he switched but bad that he didnt originally see the danger

Well, I wouldn't say he's anywhere near as bad as Barr, who is an outright fake "Libertarian." My beef with Johnson is that he has the potential to be a significant player in the liberty movement in the future, but he instead squanders our strength by dividing it.

He isn't dividing anything. If Paul wins the nomination he'll drop out, no doubt about it (who would vote for him over Paul anyway?). He's simply running as a libertarian because if Paul doesn't get the nomination or decide to go third party someone else should be on the ticket who believes in liberty.

Maybe the FNPTB caught wind of it, and put a stop to whatever he was going to say or do?

Re GJ saying Ron won't get the nom, I don't like to hear it either but, just look at the GOP shenanigans to stop RP from winning Maine. Concrete proof of fraud in the primaries would be a very good reason for Ron to announce his 3rd party run.

Gary Johnson is in a bad position; he is trying to be the plan B and has to prepare for that now; waiting until after Tampa would be foolish.

but surely he would pull out if Ron wins the nomination. to not have a plan B considering how the elite and MSM will lie cheat and steal is foolhardy.

and to have no anti-war candidate in the mix would be treason.

Yes, this is how it went down. And surprisingly enough, it was Mike Lee as a guest and Glenn Beck on his show that somewhat called out DeMint on the vote if I recall. That may have had some persuasion on DeMint. Or perhaps he just understood the bill later after more reflection and thought.
