I really wish they would have talked about Rand only in that video....and then made a different video for their multi-level marketing scheme.
My hunch is that his *intent* was not to combine them into one humongous video... I suspect the Israel made a goof when he uploaded it yesterday. There is a 12-minute segment on Rand 2016, which matches the title of the video, and the channel for that matter. But then, it is followed by an 18-minutes segment on Isagenix products, with the logo in the corner switching from RandPaulFlix over to saying IakaLife (which is Israel's particular "brand name" for his independent sub-business within the Isagenix hierarchy). However, note at the changeover-point how he instructs us to "click the link if you want" to hear about helping liberty with making money. That suggests there was not supposed to be a *splice* of the Isagenix stuff, but merely a link to it. If you visit his youtube.com/user/iakalife channel directly, you can see that he posted the 18-minute segment 11/13, as an independent video, the day before the 11/14 posting of the first randpaulflix upload. I'll email him about the mistake, and maybe he can unsplice them, or reupload.
I've been looking into this Isagenix project for a couple weeks now. Does anybody want to talk about the overall concept? My main interest is in the ethics. As you can see in the video, Doug did his best to "pre-clear" his idea with Ron Paul, and some of the younger members of the Paul clan have signed on to join the MLM subtree which Doug is building. Israel Anderson is one of the more techno-savvy folks, and has been uploading videos as he tries the products personally. But, he also runs ronpaulflix, and now runs randpaulflix. In the actual 30-minute video, there was a first segment on Rand, but then a second segment only tangentially related to Rand (see paragraph above -- methinks it was supposed to be a hyperlink not a video-splice). Is the video-splice offensive? If it was done as methinks intended, with just a hyperlink, would that have been offensive? What about the posting of either version (30min with splice or 12min with hyperlink) onto RonPaulForums aka the LibertyForest? Are people going to be unhappy, uncomfy, sour taste in the mouth, or something along those lines, if the videos from RandPaulFlix have an advertising-link at the end, and some banter about Israel's weight-loss? These aren't rhetorical questions. We could always check the terms of service of rpf, or talk to a moderator, but as you probably gathered from the video, Doug and Israel and the rest of the folks are planning on hitting this idea (and perhaps similar offshoots) pretty hard in the time we have between now and the 2014 midterm primaries, and then continue hitting it hard up through about mid-2015 when the next presidential cycle begins.
Therefore, I'm more interested in hearing what the folks who are hardcore enough to still be reading RonPaulForums ten days after the *end* of the general election have to say. This is capitalism, in the raw. Sometimes it can turn into spam, either by technical goof, or by overstepping the bounds. We in the liberty-movement support capitalism, and often like Ayn Rand (remember when Dagny complained that there weren't enough billboards when she and Hank were on their roadtrip?), but spam is a touchy subject. Capitalism, when seen in real life, as opposed to as an abstract campaign-slogan, can also be tricky. Finally, the entire Isagenix project is definitely in the beta-phase for the next three months or so -- Doug and his early partners spent six months evaluating companies, but only made the choice in the past few weeks.
As long as it's appropriate for the forums, if folks want to talk about the ethics of advertising, MLM businesses in general, Isagenix company-n-products in particular, or the idea of the liberty-movement getting involved with this particular product/company/MLM/advertising venture, ask away and I'll try to answer as best I can.
