Very Serious Allegations Made Against 2012 Ron Paul Campaign Manager Jesse Benton

It's just silly. One moment they are accusing Benton of intentionally sabotaging Ron's campaign, the next they are accusing him of wanting Ron to be President so bad he committed a crime to pay off a Senator to endorse him .

No, if it's true it's just another case of Benton spending campaign money recklessly.

If Benton had wanted Ron to be President, he would have bought advertising instead.

Are you kidding? The campaign spent loads of money advertising in Iowa. I think the content of it was more than lacking towards the end, but they did have a ton of it.

You know guys, I think part of this hate for Benson comes from the fact that it is painful for you to admit that Ron Paul himself did a lot of the screwing of his chances to become President. Both times, in fact. It's easier to blame someone else.

After being insulted repeatedly by Benton, the grassroots has a legitimate right to return the favor.

$30,000? New Hampshire has the 4th fewest state senators of any state (24) and that's enough money to almost win a campaign in some competitive districts. If it was a much smaller amount, it would be more believable. Or if this guy helped Ron Paul for months. He joined Ron Paul close to the end of the campaign. On it's face, this allegation is almost unbelievable.

gotta agree, but i also gotta agree that Ron made the call to have Benton run his campaign.

That being said, at the end of the day, it is what it is.

and Benton can go fuck himself.

Ron, keep doing what you're doing. People are waking up because of you.

Not for me.

My opinion is based on what he did to John Hostettler in 2010. I kept that to myself until he joined team McConnell. If he were merely incompetent, I would be a lot more forgiving.

Seems like a believable number to me. They had to outbid Bachmann by a significant amount.

Serious allegations yes, new, no. Relax on the Benton hate- Ron trusted him for a reason. Ron sees the corruption in DC, but can't see it in his employees? What do you think he is, stupid? Benton is not infallible, and neither is Ron.

That said, Benton probably paid Sorensen off. But I'd place more blame on Sorensen for stabbing Ron in the back.

Ron has a long history of trusting the wrong people. I don't care if Benton isn't infallible. But he's a dick.

How did Sorenson stab Ron?

My two thoughts on this -

1- Wasn't Bachmann's campaign on the decline at this alleged point in time anyway?

2- It's noteworthy how much money Romney spent donating to legislators across New Hampshire. I think (almost) every NH Republican legislator got a check from Mitt Romney or his Campaign.

But...but...other people are... what?

Correct me if I'm wrong here. They allege Jesse Benton recruited an IA state senator from a paid campaign staff position in Bachman's campaign to a paid campaign staff position on Ron's campaign plus got his endorsement and funded a PAC?

Who cares? Good for Jesse, this is how politics works, he was doing his job.
