US Run 4 Ron '08! Carry the Torch of Liberty!

Would you participate in a run that carried a 'Torch of Liberty' accross all the states starting at the Statue of Liberty and finishing somehwere on the west coast? This would be similar to what's done in the Olympics. The Torch would criss-cross the states on a schedule that could perhaps coincide with major rallies being held in the cities?

It woud:

a) Generate loads of media attention
b) Loads of attention on the roads as we welcome the runner (and entourage) in and out of our cities
c) Perhaps participants can be sponsored for their part of the run by friends and family
d) Show America that Ron Paul supporters are of all types, ages, religions, etc...
e)Generate loads of media attention!

This is logistically impossible. It was discussed months ago and that was what started the Ron Paul Riders.

I think a march would be more effective...you'd get more people. This way you could get a bunch of people marching with RP signs and pass it off to the next group etc.

Thanks... As you can see, I'm just a rookie on these boards... I used to sit on the fence but jumped in recently... Why would this be logistically impossible... Look at all the Ron Paul Meetups... It would be a matter of drawing the route and getting word out there and connected the dots... Maybe after we showed we can do 4.3 in 24 hours more people can beleive in the bigger picture and would want to take part in something like this... Ron Paul Riders is a good idea, but the difference with this one will be that anybody can do their bit on this trip.

It wouldn't be logistically impossible. I think it's a good idea, though it will take a ton of work to pull it off right.

sounds great plb, but I'm having a hard time convincing individuals to criss cross the country, let alone doing it en mass.... Still waiting for some opinions... Maybe I should've put Glen Beck/Ron Paul Girl/Ghoulianni in the title... LOL...
