The US Mint says that they had to choose between social distance from gold, or silver coins. They apparently have chosen not to make silver coins, IOW no American Silver Eagles for you.

The reason here is pretty obvious imo. Only rich man's gold allowed since it's outside of most people's budgets already and will only get further out until the reset. Poor man's gold not allowed since it's still relatively affordable, for now.
