Following confirmation by the French military that they definitely weren’t in the process of invading Somalia, the United States military is now confirming that it is, in fact, American forces that are pouring into the southern portion of the country in a helicopter-backed invasion.

US military officials confirmed to the Associated Press today that forces from the US Joint Special Operations Command had invaded the lawless African nation, and were the ones responsible for the attack on the tiny village of Barawe this morning that was the first staging ground of the attack.

So Obama continues what Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II started over there. Why don't they just leave the Somalis alone?!

It was a targeted attack against a top Al-Qaeda leader...

Not exactly fitting of the description of "INVASION" in my book, esp considering Somalia has no govt...

So know we're at war with Somalia again?

When was this okay'd? I don't remember hearing anything about a resolution in Congress or nuthin

Wait, we were always at war with Somalia. And Eurasia is our ally. They've always been our ally.

What the?

And Somalia was a threat to the U.S.....how, exactly?

on a map there. Exxon will be right behind.

Nabhan is believed to have been hiding in Somalia in recent months

Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, a top al-Qaeda suspect, has been on the FBI's wanted list for years.
He was killed in an attack by US forces in southern Somalia on 14 September, a US official says. This has not been officially confirmed by Washington.
The 28-year-old Kenyan is wanted over 2002 attacks on a hotel and an Israeli airliner in Mombasa, Kenya.
Some reports suggests he was also involved in the 1998 bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
Nabhan was "likely killed" in the raid by US forces, a US official told the BBC.
Another US official said the operation had been "successful" and he believed Nabhan was dead.
The attack - near Somalia's southern coastal town of Barawe - is said to have involved helicopters which attacked a vehicle carrying Islamists from the al-Shabab group.
Witnesses said the soldiers took away two men, and two bodies were left in the road after the attack.
'Top al-Qaeda officer'
Nabhan is believed to have owned the vehicle used in the attack on the Israeli-owned hotel near Mombasa in 2002 that killed 15 people.
He is also wanted by the FBI in connection with a botched missile attack on an Israeli airliner in Mombasa the same year.
Some reports in US media say Nabhan was involved in the bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in which more than 250 died.
Nabhan - alongside a number of other al-Qaeda-linked foreign suspects - has reportedly been hiding in rebel-held areas in Somalia for some time.
An internal US government report describes Nabhan as a top al-Qaeda officer in east Africa, according to ABC News.
The report claims that Nabhan ran training camps in Somalia for foreign fighters.

Ok, but does that make it right for us to invade a foreign nation and carry out an assassination?

What Ron Paul's solution would be. Bruno posted a link to it.

Or we could go back further in time and end our foreign empire, thus preventing 9/11 altogether!! The neocons would have had to be taken out of power to end our foreign empire, so they could have never planned and helped to carry out the attacks.

If Muslim extremists had decided to attack us anyway, well.. pretty sure NORAD could handle something like that under normal circumstances.. I mean, they used to handle that stuff all the time.. except of course on 9/11

I think you guys are both saying the same thing, just in different ways. Biig Huugs!

Yes. A man named Ron Paul told me about it. Big hugs back!
:D

Short of a time machine, we absolutely need to begin to disentangle ourselves from other countries affairs. If we don't understand the motivation of our enemies, then we will breed more animosity, create more enemies, and continue to be attacked.

Yet another terrorist that we created with Israel. I wonder if we actually killed family of his, or if he was just inspired by all the other people's families getting killed?

No, no, I'm sure he was born evil and raised by evil.
