They swapped out the entire text of the legislation last night (well, 10am this morning) and are trying to rush it through today.

Govtrack is down, so I don't even know what the really bad stuff they are trying to sneak through contains. That they are using these tactics SCREAMS it's REALLY BAD STUFF! - As if the previous versions were not bad enough.

Also, it didn't see the light of day in the AG committee and no amendments are allowed.

please contact your congress critters to urge a NO VOTE on the basis of these tactics alone. and please forward to everyone you know. It sounds like we have 40 minutes to respond to this before they vote.

Gotta love that transparency. Why is Waxman still up there? I am getting tired of this one guy trying to run my life. Maybe we should all start making asinie rules for him to follow, and then we can force him to live how we want.

FUCK - they just voted... but quorum not present - so 15 min vote... dial quick!

You have got to be kidding me, there is no way to stop this garbage? We don't need a Federal Government who behaves like this.

280 yes, 150 no - two thirds not being in the affirmative the bill is NOT passed!
(because it was brought up under suspension of the rules - they were short 6 votes)

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bet we will see it again... :(

time to study what they tried to sneak in there and BITCH LOUDLY!!!!!

Do you know how exactly this works? (suspension of the rules I mean)

not exactly - I believe it means they can do things like block amendments, bring it up fast, introduce the bill at the last minute, avoid having to go through committees, etc. the upside is that they have to get bills passed by a 2/3 majority.

The Dems use it a LOT!

Hey, thanks for the updates.

Even if the repubs who voted yes, had voted no, we still would not have beat this.

I'm going to keep the names of the repubs who voted yes on this, give it to Retakecongress.com and see if they can find people to run against them next year if they are up for election.

Very good idea, please keep a watchful eye on these types. i want them out of the party.
