Guys,

We must start an initiative to have the official campaign decide to go with a new design for Ron's yard signs / campaign signs.

Please submit your designs, in full color and 2-color. Images should be at a 4:3 ratio, and high-res. Please post smaller images here.

We will pick a winner, and push the campaign to use our design.

I think most can agree that the current design is dated, and ineffective. Much of Obama's success last year can be attributed to his campaign branding. We don't need a decorative logo (Like obama's "O"), but we do need a more attractive sign.

PS - The font that Obama used in '08 was gotham. Also, please note that the slogan will likely be decided upon by the campaign, so use any slogan you wish.

All entries will be posted here. A vote will ensue. (Mods - a sticky would be great).

UPDATE:
------
Apparently the mods are the only 3 people who voted that the design doesn't need to be changed? (I voted "no" by accident because I initially messed up the wording of the answers). I assume it's because they're purists. From a perspective of someone on the outside looking in, the current sign is uninspiring, dated, and has a net negative effect on the campaign. period.

Also, this is an urgent matter because once Ron announces, you can be sure as hell the official campaign will begin having his signs prepared shortly thereafter.

In regard to Ron's sign having already built "brand equity", did it matter that obama had no "brand equity" before 08? No. He had a great design, and it paid off.

Imagine Ron's '08 sign saying "Barack Obama" instead of Ron Paul. Would Barack have fared so well if that was the case? Compare that to the stylized "O", modern font, and vibrant colors that Barack did have. Even McCain had a sharp looking design.

I'm not some nobody speaking on this topic. I've been doing corporate branding professionally for years.

Here's my entry to start it off:

I thought the '08 Hope for America design was fantastic. Print on white signs with blue & red ink.

Nice, that makes a pretty bold statement. Something along those lines with a little tweaking would look good. Hopefully they pick a better slogan this time around. Something with a little more substance than "hope".

Ummm... yeah... Ron is going to use what he has always used. Don't waste your time, they won't change their logo. Focus on door knocking and phone calling in your precinct instead.

This is what that statue looks out on when a big swell comes through:

Wow. I really like the not for sale one a lot. It's a sick design, and the text is great for letting ppl know how different Ron is from most politicians.

my only suggestion is to move president to the top of the sign or erase it altogether.

I've been working a multitude of potential designs, I'll hopefully have something up later in the week. ;)

Matt,

This board has a number of professional graphic designers who are willing to provide their services to the campaign. Anyone can knock on a door. Crowd-sourcing for an improved design here can help the campaign immensely. I think we can agree that his branding could use a makeover. Submitting a proposal to the campaign can't hurt.

If the campaign solicits one then go for it. But they aren't (besides the fact they don't even exist yet), so there is no point in creating one. There are more effective things to do with one's time; like organizing your local CFL / precincts. When the campaign comes about, if they want to use another logo, I am sure they will do one of 3 things - 1)hire someone to create one 2)ask someone they know personally to create one or 3)ask the grassroots to create one. Again that even assumes they even want a new logo. Knowing Ron, I don't think they will. Besides, there is a ton built up in that brand / image. Why change it?

One risk with the original poster is that after he wins the republican primary ppl might think that he copied Obama's slogan of hope. I know that he used that sign before Obama came out with his, but still
