URGENT * DEADLINE 7/28 MIDNIGHT* Grassroots Talent Needed for FULL PAGE Iowa ad

One thing that just dawned on me and it's something that we should probably check on is with regard to the pricing structure for printing color ads. It used to be the case that the price for a print job was tied to not only the volume, but also the number of colors in the thing to be printed. Someone may want to check to see if that is still the case. Because the price difference used to be substantial.

Again on electability, are voters thinking he can't beat Obama because Republicans won't vote for him, or independents won't vote for him, or the 'Reagan Democrats' won't vote for him, and why?

To be honest you guys are overthinking this. There needs to be one clear focus and make it simple. Simple simple simple.

One candidate was the inspiration for ObamaCare.

One candidate an IRS tax attorney.

One candidate broke his pledge to America.

One was the chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve.

And one candidate delivered 4,000 babies, served in the US Air force, and has been a loyal husband for 50 years.

That candidate is Ron Paul... the one for 2012.

I like what you list about what voters don't know about Ron. Stay away from SS and Medicare, its too hot a button for seniors, and Ron said he wasn't going to focus on tinkering on that anyways.

People are talking about it, anyway, and if they are on it, they are already scared to death. Fact is, that Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate who has the economic knowledge and solution to save SS and Medicare for those dependent upon it.

heh. I really like this. I don't know if the Straw Poll is where we want to use something like this, but I'll bet we will have an opportunity down the line. Really nice job. :)

Romulus' second one has a few grammar errors...

In the first sentence, semicolon should just be a comma.

In the second "paragraph", lawyer shouldn't be capitalized.

-------

Also, the first "bullet" could be worded a little better, maybe:

Received more than twice as many donations from active duty military than every other Republican candidate combined.

or

Received more donations from active duty military than every other Republican candidate combined.

----------

Finally, the last bullet could have something a little better, imho. Maybe something about reverance towards the Constitution. It's just that "best chance to win the White House" seems rather subjective where we could be adding substance.

That's a good idea. Three is a more balanced number, though -- how about faith, his ability to beat obama, and his economic prescience?

Seems pretty good. I would be emphasizing liberty instead of faith but then again I'm probably not a stereotypical conservative. However I do think the Faith thing is something that could just as easily be said for Bachmann or Pawlenty and be correct. It doesn't set him apart.

I don't know why we're not emphasizing his prowess (or prescience as was pointed out) with economics more though.

Among voters, everybody thinks the national debt is beyond ridiculous, the economy's lousy, and so on. And with the debt ceiling debates occurring it's on the surface of everyone's mind even more.

Some have said Ron knows more about economics than all the other candidates combined. And while we wouldn't say that, I don't think it's too far from the truth. I think the other political issues take a backseat compared to the economy. And WE realize Ron really understands what's going on. How can we best communicate this?

I think the electability issue has more to do with two things:

1. His "crazy uncle" label from last election
2. He isn't the hollywood-slick-as-snot-lines-memorized- POS that the public has gotten used to

The "crazy uncle' image is quickly shedding now that the media is starting to acknowledge that he predicted this.

But, he needs to be re-packaged ( hate that term..). The public is ready for the man in my signature......

To supplement my earlier post. Either informational about stuff people DON't know about Ron or an issue based ad (can bea obama, faith)

I absolutely love the first one Romulus.

As do I...it is absolutely stunning in its classic design and execution! But, as a non-believer, I can only hope those who think the faith issue to be of such high importance to Iowans are correct. I worry about overplaying that hand. But, otherwise, huge Kudos on the design.

"RP Can't beat Obama because ..."

"not enough Americans want to see the kind of drastic changes RP wants to make; his positions are too extreme"
"he won't capture the pro-family values conservatives"
"he won't keep the 'strong military' conservatives"
"he wants to gut everything, including SS and Medicare"
"the polls don't show him with enough support"

....

I keep wanting to do something simple like this, but we really need Dr. Paul's quote in there somewhere about not needing to do away with Social Security and healthcare for those dependent on it. Lest we will scare the crap out of the seniors and run them off. :p

America's economic crisis...

Ron Paul predicted it.

Ron Paul knows how to fix it.

It's time to take a stand for America.

It's time for Ron Paul.

---------

Whatever we end up with, in my opinion, we need to stress that Dr. Paul knows what to do to put America back on firm economic footing. That he has the solution.

I can't tell if anyone paid much attention to what MJU1983 posted:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/61016593/Document-2

but, I REALLY, REALLY like using the quotes in the add:

"Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country." ~ Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States ~

"I try to go for the candidates that line up mostly with the values, the principles of the founders. Out of all the candidates in this cycle, I found Ron Paul to be the one with the longest, most consistent voting record to back up those principles and concepts." ~ Cory Adams, Story County Iowa GOP Chairman~

“Ron Paul has been a consistent voice for individual rights and constitutional conservatism. He predicted this Great Recession while most laughed at the idea, and he is now the strongest and clearest voice on how to return to sound economic principles. Dr. Paul has a record spanning more than 30 years of consistent, principled votes. We need Ron Paul in the White House.” ~ Rep. Jason Schultz (R-*Schleswig), Iowa House of Representatives’ 55th District~

I think they do several things: They clarify what Ron Paul's all about. And they add significant political clout. Reagan? Always a positive feeling associated with him (at least how it seems to me). Chairman of the GOP in Story Co? Kinda self explanatory for why this is great.

But the quotes should be extra. I think the rest of the add should be minimalist. The adds that have the least on them are the most outstanding. A jewelry in my hometown used to run an add that was entirely clean except for a border and some text in the center: "First Avenue Jewelry (this is how clear our diamonds are)". Currently a pizza business in Ames runs some pretty catchy minimalist adds. Here's one of them:

Out of the many adds I've seen, these are the two I really remember. Other adds are more informative (e.g. the weeks specials) but are much less MEMORABLE. I will say the collage one from 4 years ago is probably an exception :)

Anywho, I kinda had a vision after I initially started writing this post and decided to create it.

Here's one variation:

A couple others are at:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10826233/RP-d1.jpg
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10826233/RP-d2.jpg

I notice the color of the background looks bad in my browser but if I download the images and open them in on my computer they look the way I intended.

And here's the Photoshop file so somebody can hopefully IMPROVE it, ESPECIALLY the background and probably the fonts:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10826233/RP.psd

Obviously it looks kind of plain right now, but with an excellent background, excellent use of some Eagles, etc (without becoming distracting) - I think it could be really great.

I'm hoping someone with more graphic design abilities than me can take it from here, provided people here like the concept.

Looks good, except the italic font is hard to read.
