If you hadn't heard, HP is abandoning their touchpad that just came out in July. They're not making any more. Prices have dropped like a rock.

I bought two on Amazon earlier today for $99 each, one for me and one for my mom. Amazon is now sold out, as are many other places.

I have, however, found that Barnes and Noble is selling it for $100. Act fast if you want a great deal on this.

Nope, just wanted to give my fellow RPFers a heads up! The demand for these is crazy after the price drop. Best Buy sold out really fast, as did Amazon. They could barely sell any of them before. Just wasn't worth the $500 price tag.

Also another thing I forgot to mention, it comes with Kindle installed! Kindles alone cost over $100, so you get that in addition to everything else it offers.

EDIT: Good article on the sale. http://www.pcworld.com/businesscent...fire_sale_is_a_recipe_for_tablet_success.html

Decided to buy another to flip on eBay...alas, they're out of stock now.

A lot of people saying their BN orders get cancelled.

I was wondering about that....so far mine is still standing.

Late Friday night, news broke that HP was selling its TouchPads at a heavy discount: $99 for the 16GB and $149 for the 32GB. By Saturday, Corcoran tweeted that all TouchPads were sold out in the U.S., though she said there were "more coming." The company set up a Web site that allowed customers to sign up and be alerted when more were available.

Besides the fact that HP is discontinuing them and its a dead product line?

Even so, this is too good of a deal to pass up. As I said before, you are basically getting a kindle with this in addition to everything else. Kindles alone cost $115.

Sure, it's no iPad. Sure, the app market on this sucks. Yes, there are some other minor negatives.

But can it surf the web? Yes. Check e-mail? Yes. Read Kindle books? Yes. Watch movies and flash videos? Yes.

For $99 that's well worth it. For the original $500, no way.

Yeah, I didn't say it wasn't a "deal" hardware wise and there is a avid group of homebrew developers for WebOS, just people should be aware that it is a discontinued product line that won't be getting much support or additional big name software anytime in the future.

Fair enough my friend!

That's what I read here as well.

Barnes And Noble: Barnes And Noble's site is showing 16GB HP TouchPads for $102. Some online shoppers are claiming their purchases are being rejected via email after purchasing, while others are claiming to have received confirmations. It's not clear if you'll get a TouchPad from the bookseller, but it's worth a shot.

Hopefully everyone on here has their order go through.

Also in that same article it mentions that HP and other sites may have more in stock later in the week. If you wanted one and couldn't get one before it sold out, might wanna check this out.

My B&N order was confirmed, and I still haven't received a cancel. Before I ordered I saw that people who were trying to use a B&N account were having troubles, so I intentionally avoided that.

My local Meijer store (regional name) has one, but won't sell it to me. They said they were told to pull them and return them. :(

looking around local stores using google products search; thinking of picking one up 2night

Any new links to stores that still have them available? I'll post if I find one.

I'm gonna LOL my @ss off if this turns out to be a big marketing gimmick. Dump the old version of the product on the market, announce that due to great demand you are changing your mind and announce a newer version coming out soon. The biggest hurdle was getting these into the hands of the consumer and generating market for app developers. It appears they should have sold these at a big loss from the get-go.
