New laws to target radicalisation

Under the proposals, ministers would be able to silence any group or individual they believe is undermining democracy or the British values of tolerance and mutual respect.

Wow...

Mr Cameron will say the new powers will make it harder for people to promote extremist views.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'," he will say.

"It's often meant we have stood neutral between different values. And that's helped foster a narrative of extremism and grievance."

This is what happens when you empower someone who is a procedural, managerial type, rather than someone bound by philosophy.

People with good intentions who seek to find a rational, logical solution to problems in the real world, and don't have any compunction about trampling over your rights to do it. Things like gun control come from this perspective.

Can We Still Call him a Fascist Twat in a Onesie?

As Glenn Greenwald remarks at the Intercept, UK home secretary Theresa May has been doing her best to explain why certain purveyors of thought crimes must henceforth be persecuted by the State in order to ensure our continued safety. You see, it’s all about being “One Nation”. Well, that’s OK then, right? Sieg Heil!

“In essence, advocating any ideas or working for any political outcomes regarded by British politicians as “extremist” will not only be a crime, but can be physically banned in advance.[…]It’s not enough for British subjects merely to “obey the law”; they must refrain from believing in or expressing ideas which Her Majesty’s Government dislikes. If all that sounds menacing, tyrannical and even fascist to you — and really, how could it not? “extremism disruption orders” — you should really watch this video of Tory Home Secretary Theresa May trying to justify the bill in an interview on BBC this morning. When pressed on what “extremism” means — specifically, when something crosses the line from legitimate disagreement into criminal “extremism” — she evades the question completely, repeatedly invoking creepy slogans about the need to stop those who seek to “undermine Our British Values” and, instead, ensure “we are together as one society, One Nation” (I personally believe this was all more lyrical in its original German). Click here to watch the video and see the face of Western authoritarianism, advocating powers in the name of Freedom that are its very antithesis.”

(emphasis added)

It seems that many Western political leaders no longer know what freedom of speech actually means. Freedom of speech includes the possibility that people might utter opinions that cover the full range from “totally idiotic” to “potentially undermining someone else’s values” and more. Yes, it is a slightly risky concept, since some people may indeed be convinced by the rhetoric of very bad people. We’re quite sure it happens every day.

If we not only agree with Steve Bell that David Cameron is a “colossal twat in a onesie”, but augment that by calling him a “colossal fascist twat in a onesie”, are we engaging in hate speech? What about advocating anarchy, i.e., the possibility of doing away with ruling elites and the State altogether? Would that be regarded as criminally “undermining democracy”? Clearly, those who advocate a stateless society have to be considered “anti-democratic”, since there wouldn’t be a government or elections in such a society. How do we know anarchists won’t be prosecuted under the cover of this proposed legislation? Theresa May certainly hasn’t provided much reassurance on such fine points.

The UK already banned free speech a long time ago with hate-speech laws.

Yup most of Europe banned free speech. Just saying something as simple as "The holocaust never happened" can land you behind bars in much of Europe.

What dopey people, these Brits.

One can only wonder what's next.

David Cole, a Jew did a little research and suffered the consequences.

Europe needs a revolution. And they're going to get it.

Howl Hitler: German who taught dog to give Nazi salute with its paw is jailed

Most dog owners delight in teaching their pet to "shake a paw".

But the trick a German man taught his canine companion was much more sinister... it learned to do a Nazi salute.

The German Shepherd crossbreed, called Adolf, lifted its paw up high on command in imitation of the infamous raised-arm greeting used by Hitler and his cohorts.

The nine-year-old dog's owner, known as Roland T, boasted brazenly in front of police about the animal's trick - even though the Nazi salute is banned in Germany.

And the 58-year-old former car salesman chalked the name "Adolf" above the door of his pet's kennel in Berlin.

He claimed the dog was born on Hitler's birthday and he planned to have him put down on the anniversary of the dictator's suicide.

This, he said, was because he could not afford dog food after being fined for other Nazi-related behaviour.

Roland had been handed suspended sentences by courts since 2003 and was said to be notorious for openly giving Nazi salutes and wearing pro-Hitler T-shirts.

Funny or sad in the so called land of the free.. I flew with many German fighter pilots. I could joke about Hitler, etc. but they would use keep their mouth shut. It was something they were afraid to talk about.

Germany is still occupied by the United States. It's not fully sovereign.
They don't even have a Constitution. Merkel is nothing but a puppet.

Broken Britain has not had any freedom of speech for years because it has long been subverted even preceding the coercively sanctioned Cultural Marxist policies like multicultural integration, "positive discrimination" and the "Human Rights" Act of 1998 (replaced the long discarded UK's Bill of Rights and it gives preferential treatment to criminals/feral youth/chavs/murderers/terrorists over the victimized) imposed by that champagne socialist and Orwellian globalist Tony Blair. Oh and David CamerMORON is no conservative, he is a progressive collectivist who advocates centrist pseudo-free market policies like utility privatization which don't really uphold any significance. Many of the tory neo-conservatives since the late 90's are nonetheless socially progressive anyway.

Economic problems will spell the end of the liberal bullshit.
And the West will once again start making decisions based on reality and not existential nonsense.
