TV: Justified

This! Raylan can't die.

Though I'd not be surprised if sometime between now and the beginning of next season, he loses his badge. Methinks the head Marshall suspects his involvement in more than one underhanded play, and it may come back to bite him?

Did you read the link I posted with the theory about the mole? That gives me some hope about how the last season might play out. Now I have to go back and watch the older seasons again to see if there's any more hints about that.

Raylan is just as bad as the guys he goes gunning for. I am pretty sick of Law enforcement shows, where the only thing different between the bad guys are a gun and a badge. I do not like the idea of the lawman living in the mansion of the bad guy he put in jail, because it is now the states property. Glorifying asset forfeiture.

My biggest beef with all cop shows, including this one, is that they portray cops as being reasonable human beings with a sense or humor...not sweating the small stuff while pursuing the real bad guys.

That's just fiction.

I started watching this about a month ago when I got Amazon Prime, in the middle of Season 2 right now.
I've been a huge fan of Timothy Olyphant since Deadwood.

I like to imagine this show is Deadwood, just set in present-day Kentucky.

Woah. No, I hadn't seen that, but now that I've read it... Yikes. My brain is on overdrive replaying things from last season... ;)

So, you didn't like The Shield then? :D

There was a reference to it last night. The Canadian mentioned that the drug dealer bragged about having a cop in his pocket, and that there was a Marshall present at the airport that night.

At the time I though it was weird, because Raylan sure isn't in anybody's pocket. But if they're talking about two different Marshalls....

I haven't watched last night's episode yet. Hoping to do it tonight.... But you're right, a quote like that definitely adds to the possibility that Art is a mole. Hrrm... :)

I was just looking at the clips from the upcoming week, and stumbled across the promos that aired before this season started. They are a lot more foreboding now than they were.

I can't figure out how to link to just one video. This is a FX playlist, that I hopes is starting with "Death Wish" followed by "Roadkill" and then "Tracks."

I've never heard of this show. I'm going to go peruse Amazon for it. I have Prime, so maybe it's on that. I hope, I hope.

Me too! It is a fast paced show. I try to put down the computer and watch it. And I usually watch every episode twice, because knowing how that episode will end changes the perspective of everything that led up to it, at least for me.

After the "watch?" bit, all you need is the "v=XXXXXXXXXX" part (up to the first ampersand). The rest is "junk" you can just discard.

Is it wrong that I am rooting for Boyd Crowder?

It's actually not a good show in sum. I regret watching it to begin with. Season 5 is good so far though. some of the more consistent plot-lines and more believable acting and dialogue. Not a fan of seasons 2,3,4. 4 was the worst.

Oh, heck no! I always think that having a bad guy that you can sympathize with is what makes the show interesting. I find myself feeling sorry for Ava and Dewey Crowe, too.

About this weeks episode: The KKK guy referred to Boyd as a race traitor . What's that about? I think I remember that Boyd used to be in the KKK, but do we know how he pissed them off so bad?

SO many good lines this week! "I don't believe we ever did settle on a safe word." Watching the redneck struggle between choosing prison or a gay sex stigma was awesome.

Have they mentioned the KKK in particular? I've been taking it as more of a vague & generic "Aryan nation" kind of thing ...

Anyway, I don't think it was any particular thing that Boyd did - just the "general principle" of Boyd being willing to deal with anyone for mutual advantage (instead of exclusively "sticking to his kind"). Also, the guy indicated that Boyd was the one who had brought him "into the fold" and "converted" him into an avid racist - so I think it was more of an outraged sense of personal betrayal from this one guy (as opposed to some particular beef that KKK/Aryan types in general might have with Boyd).

LOL Reminds me of this line from last season: "I love the way you talk. Forty words when four will do."

Agreed, V3n! It reminds me of Deadwood, not just because of Sheriff Bullock, but the dialogue is a big reason why. It's got that Milchian iambic pentameter going on. I think one of the writers worked on Deadwood actually. (I will also take this opportunity to say HBO should just let Milch do one more season of Deadwood to wrap it up. They've killed four of his shows already, and the one he's working on now sounds like it's nothing to write home about either.

ETA: It's already dead! That makes five Milch series they've killed)

We haven't even started watching this season yet!

Bummer - one more season of Deadwood - or even a Deadwood "movie" would still be awesome... maybe he should talk to the folks at Netflix that brought back Arrested Development! :D

I want a whole season! I was actually thinking about starting a kickstarter for it, if you can believe it! It seems I'm not the only one!

I'm a bit of a Milch fangurl, and am pretty cheesed off I can't watch his stuff. If he doesn't get back to work soon, I'm afraid he's going to end up back in Mexico shooting smack and burying bodies with Yum-Yum! He says he goes crazy when he's not working. HBO has had him locked in the basement since they killed Luck in'11, and before that it was since '07!

Justified is done after S6. That has to be enough time to get the actors back for it. It can be done!
