Trying to convince my wife

She has the right to care about what she wants. It is not going to win anyone over if we belittle what they believe in.

You are correct. We should not belittle what someone believes in.

However.

The question is irrelevant to the presidential election.

Being concerned about animal rights in regards to the presidential election is like asking someone what their favorite fruit is and having them answer "bicycle".

Humor aside, another poster was correct: What does animal rights have to do with the constitution?????

Come on people quit being Jerks! I know there are many other important issues, but we should all try to focus on the question the gentleman asked!

I will apologize for this before hand and if I get in trouble with the Admins so be it.

SOME PEOPLE NEED TO QUIT BEING ASSHOLES!

She has every right to ask!

I appreciate your efforts on this. And more importantly so did she. Im more than certain that he would be for animals rights.....

"The moral progress of a nation can be judged by the way it treats its animals" - Gandhi

I agree but who is to say what is important to someone? If she loves animals that her choice and it is important to her.

I love how everyone here is trying to tell her what to think. Way to promote liberty and freedom.

I was'nt refering to her concerns not being important. We all have our own priorities on issues, I was just trying to make it clear to others that everyones issue is worth being heard.

Now what would Fred Thompson do if that lady came up to him with her deer?

All animal rights are in State jurisdiction. There are currently no federal animal rights laws that I am aware of.

The constitution says nothing about animal rights... only natural god given rights to the people. I reckon Paul's position on animal rights is the same with abortion rights: it's a criminality issue and should be chosen by individual states like all others.

Yeah that wasn't directed toward you as much as the people saying, well you should really be concerned with this(any topic) rather than animals.

If the president has no authority just let him know kindly. Remember the world is not like internet, kindness and respect go along way when you talk to people about Paul.

Give your wife this=

As an aside, he was checking for a pulse, jokingly. That was the first day of deer hunting season and the woman who bagged the deer that morning was Paul's New Hampshire campaign manager's wife.

I would have to think the animal rights fall under personal property as far as pets go, but I am yet to find out the overall picture. I will try to look into it. Thanks for bringing it up, If I find out any solidarity I will PM you.

I appreciate that. I believe her question was not based upon what he would do in regards to a law etc, but simply what his moral stance might have been.

First of all, what is Thompson's stance. Second, animal rights is likely a state issue.

Will take both parts into consideration as I look for the answer.

How about we try answering his question, instead of telling him what his wife should be concerned with. His wife has the freedom to be concerned with what she chooses. Telling people that the things they care for are not valid concerns is a sure fire way to lose votes.

This is funny since you're the same guy that was harping about how none of us should be concerned with voter fraud in NH. You should take your own advice.
