The Soviet Union was the threat of the 20th century.
They were a military super power a real threat.
Not in the auto industry. They wished.
Read this thread, especially starting on page two, then get back to me about how some communist/socialist/fascist government is going to take over the auto industry.
Well, they bought majority stake in Chrysler, which helped em take over control of the company. And the end result is success for the little car company. Btw, I have driven a lada and it was OK, my uncle had one and he loved it. Cheap, easy to repair and all around work horse of a car. Not saying I will pick it over a toyota but it was an OK car from my experience. Just saying
Agree with the rest of the thread.
The government brokered a deal. That's all. And the Soviet Union didn't design the Lada. FIAT did. The best the USSR could do was the Pobeida.
Unless you count the ZIL...
You're as bad as progs fearmongering over the common fucking cold. The only free people who ever suffered over crappy commie cars are the precious few fools who bought them. And even if you brought P.T. Barnum back from the grave he couldn't find the Chinese enough customers to harm any automaker bigger than Suzuki.
