Trump vs. DeSantis

You only have 2 choices. Pick.

  • Don

    Votes: 14 56.0%
  • Ron

    Votes: 11 44.0%

  • Total voters
    25
  • Poll closed .

I'm not a pollster but a sample size of 661 seems rather flimsy these days. I only hope that Cheney is actually only getting 3% and would not be disappointed if it were even less.

Republican-libertarian activist, Tho Bishop, in Florida has a great take on this:

"If Ron DeSantis wants to take the GOP, he should call for the removal of McCarthy and McConnell from leadership.
Not only is accountability important, but it would directly undercut the silly "he's too establishment" narrative being pushed by some.

The GOP needs a capable leader right now. Someone who can reward friends and punish enemies.

Ron needs to make the call and give us Speaker Jim Jordan.
"

What consequences for DeSantis does Bishop propose to apply (and how) if DeSantis does not do those things?

(We already have an idea of what kind of consequences DeSantis might face if he does do those thing, and how McConnell et al. could apply them.)

I spoke to a previous Trump supporter today. He said that Trump's attacks on DeSantis have soured him on Trump. Trump is losing support by the day.

The Republican Party should be forced to carry Trump to term, even if it endangers the life of the Party.

That depends on how much traction DeSantis has outside of Florida, which remains to be seen.

As influential as Florida may be, it is not the sole decider of who gets to be the Republican nominee for POTUS.

(And if Trump does win the nomination, it's not like most DeSantis supporters are going to vote for the Democrat in the general election.)

It's not moot unless and until that actually happens, however likely it might be.

Yes, the Desantis voters would vote for the democrat in the general election. Where do you think the extra 18 points came from?

Trump appearing to lose support is all part of the plan

Believe it or not, I'm actually hearing that from some Trump supporters. It's more of that 3D chess where Trump is distracting the media with a pretend feud between him and DeSantis while they are coordinating his return to the White House in the background.

Those "extra" 18 points (actually closer to 20) account for only one third of the votes DeSantis got.

IOW: They are not "most DeSantis supporters".

(And not only that, but I see no reason for thinking that that "extra" 20% is composed entirely of never-Trumpers.)

When he passes away, it will be part of the plan so he can resurrect in 3 days. In Q we trust.

Trump/DeSantis ticket would be hard to beat.

DeSantis would be a balancing VP.

I think a lot of the media Hype sounds like Big Time Wrestling.

#1 Trump/DeSantis would lose. #2 Assuming it was a winning ticket, why would he resign as popular governor of a large state to basically do nothing as VP?

You are missing the point. Trump very well may not win Florida in a general election if he continues to badmouth DeSantis. There is no path to victory that doesn't go through Florida for him.

I'm not missing anything. You're just repeating what you've already said, which I've already addressed:

People in Florida like DeSantis more than Trump. Trump has no path to victory that doesn't go through Florida.
