Trump Slaps More Tariffs on The American People -- When Will It End?

The tariff stories that Americans have been told deserve to be questioned. First, we Americans are overwhelmingly paying for the tariffs. They are "slapped' on us. Meanwhile, China is selling less to America, but they simply shifted to selling to the rest of the world, and they're breaking records with trade surpluses. So China has not been "slapped," while we Americans have. At the same time, America has lost 78,000 manufacturing jobs since the beginning of 2025. Something isn't right here.

.

What?

The idea that the feds can tax us into security and prosperity is once again proven wrong? 78,000 manufacturing jobs LOST?

When will paleocons learn?

Not sure I can take much more of this kind of “winning.”

Well, there's two things going on here:

1) Tariffs, properly implemented, take time (years) to have a positive effect, and
2) The way Trump is doing tariffs is indeed likely to be harmful, as I've said many times before

The economic results from Trump's retarded tariffs does nothing to prove or disprove the effectiveness of tariffs themselves.

It's like being prescribed a course of antiobitics, taking 1 dose of it, then taking a dose of a completely different antiobiotic, and keep doing that, and then people like you are like "see!! antiobiotics dont work".... no... they work fine..... properly implemented

Yawn.

“We haven’t actually even tried real communism, so the failures we see don’t really prove anything.”

Believe what you want.

Tariffs are always economically harmful. Always.

Plus, like all forms of welfare, they tend to weaken the very entities they claim to help/protect.

These facts have been known for a couple of centuries at least now.

Hopefully, some day you’ll get the chance to establish your ideal isolationist “Leaveusthefuckaloneistan” and discover those facts for yourself.

Until then, again, believe what you want.

To be fair real communism does work, it's called a family.

Believe what you want.

Well, there's theory and there's practice. I've long stated that the strongest argument against tariffs is that in practice, corruption precludes the possibility of tariffs being implemented properly.

But in theory, them being implemented properly is really not that hard: make them broad, gradual and predictable and authorized by congress.

The result of such tariffs is that people would have less money to spend on services and we'd spend more money investing in our means of production.

Short term pain vs long term growth.

Hopefully, some day you’ll get the chance to establish your ideal isolationist “Leaveusthefuckaloneistan” and discover those facts for yourself.

Hopefully, would be nice

Hopefully some day you'll get the chance to establish your own particular brand of Leaveusthefuckaloneistan  (isn't that what we all want here!!???)

To where?

To whatever land to which you hold a greater legitimate claim to, than does anyone else. Presumably, that would be the land that you're living on, if you own it

All that would happen is that you and your authoritarian government would follow me around and shoot or bomb me. For the time being, I'll hang with Ron Paul and continue the good fight

I most certainly would not, and it's not my government, or it would leave you alone

I got the deed right here. Like I said, I'll hang with RP for the time being.

I most certainly would not, and it's not my government, or it would leave you alone

Oh, so you're just an enabler. Support/endorse government tariffs, but leave me alone? 🤔

When I write my weekly letters to Trump, I specifically mention that in all cases PAF should be left alone.

I do not at all condone theft or extortion upon your person.

The crimes they commit upon you, is entirely on them

But at the same time I'm not gonna go particularly out of my way to make sure your interests are protected over my own, so yea, I'm an enabler in that regard certainly
