Trump says Rex Tillerson out as Secretary of State, replaced by Mike Pompeo

Another one fired for a distraction?!?

And who is Gina Haspel?
Trump has named Gina Haspel as the new director of the CIA. Haspel was Pompeo’s deputy and will become the first woman to serve as CIA director.

From 2003 to 2005, Gina Haspel was a senior official overseeing the top-secret CIA torture program RDI (Rendition, Detention, and Interrogation) that included waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and squeezing into coffins of terror suspects. RDI also kidnapped suspects and delivered them to third-party countries to do the dirty work.

In 2002, Haspel was present at a CIA black site in Thailand when Abu Zubaydah and al-Nashiri were tortured. The torture of Zubaydah was especially horrible and included waterboarding 83 times. At one time he appeared to be dead and doctors “revived” him. Because of the brutal abuse, Zubaydah lost sight in his left eye.
In 2005, Haspel and her superior Jose Rodriguez decided to destroy the videotapes of the interrogations of Zubaydah and al-Nashiri to prevent Congress from seeing them.

In 2009, President Obama ordered the closure of the black sites, where torture (in violation with the Geneva convention) was common: https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/the-new-c-i-a-deputy-chiefs-black-site-past

Chatter about everyone in WH who complians about son-in-law Kushner getting fired seems to be exaggerated. And to be fair, Tillerson was not as supportive of Kushner and Netanyahu's foreign policies as he could have been. Nikki Haley OTOH is doing a stellar job, she's a keeper.

Tillerson, Kelly Reportedly Frustrated With Jared Kushner Running U.S. Foreign Policy

Politico reports that John Kelly has repeated Rex Tillerson's complaints, which were not take well by Kushner

Tillerson also reportedly expressed frustration about U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and national security adviser H.R. McMaster encroachment on his position.
“We can’t have four secretaries of state,” Tillerson said.

Is Trump's Son-in-law Destabilizing the Middle East? Rex Tillerson Thinks Jared Kushner Is a Threat to Peace

By Tom Porter On 12/2/17
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is concerned that negotiations being held between Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman could tip the Middle East into chaos, Bloomberg reported.
Tillerson, according to Bloomberg's sources, says that 36-year-old former real estate executive Kushner has left the State Department and key U.S. diplomats in the dark about the content of the negotiations.

Kushner family solicited Qatari investment just before blockade: report

By Brandon Carter - 03/02/18
White House senior adviser and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner’s family real estate company sought an investment from the government of Qatar just weeks before a Middle Eastern blockade against the country, according to a Thursday report.

Two sources told The Intercept that Kushner’s father, Charles, met with Qatar’s Finance Minister Ali Sharif al-Emadi in New York in April to seek an investment from the Qatari government for the Kushner Companies’ 666 Fifth Ave. property.
The two men and their aides met for 30 minutes, according to the report, and a second meeting was held the next day at the Fifth Avenue location. Al-Emadi didn’t personally attend the second meeting, and the deal was never completed.
The Fifth Avenue building is a flagship of the Kushner family’s real estate business and has been the nexus for conflict-of-interest questions surrounding Kushner and his role in Trump’s White House.
Kushner Companies bought the property for $1.8 billion in 2007. Before resigning his role at the company to join the Trump administration, Kushner introduced a $7.5 billion plan to redevelop the skyscraper and reportedly pursued foreign investment in the project to pay down its massive debts, which were recently reported to equal $1.448 billion.

....comes a day after Tillerson directly attributed blame of the nerve agent attack to Russia.
Sec State under Trump = worst job evaaaaa.

supposedly...
Tim Shipman @ShippersUnbound
Tillerson was told he was out on Friday.
He spoke up for Britain on Russia because he thought it was the right thing to do.
He spoke because he'd been fired,
he wasn't fired because he spoke.

so...
So the Secretary of State only spoke up for US closest ally against Russia,
because he already knew he was being fired??? wtf?

and btw...
In 2017 there were calls for Germany's Public Prosecutor General to issue an arrest warrant
against Gina Haspel over claims she oversaw the torture.

Are you implying he is ditracting from such media stories and got bad advice? If so, seems quite unlikely that a seasoned sitting POTUS like him would make such huge decisions just for distraction.

Trump asking for advice on Stormy Daniels situation

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump has been seeking counsel from confidantes on how he should handle the Stormy Daniels situation, a source close to the President tells CNN.

The source said Trump is being told by advisers not to fight Daniels' decision to break a confidentiality agreement because it would make him look guilty. This source said it's the only reason Trump has stayed quiet on the issue and hasn't been tweeting about it.

The source also believes the controversy potentially poses a bigger threat to Trump's presidency than Russia. The difference here compared to accusations from other women is that there's a signed agreement and a payment.

Oh boy- from Pompeo's article:

Congress should pass a law re-establishing collection of all metadata, and combining it with publicly available financial and lifestyle information into a comprehensive, searchable database. Legal and bureaucratic impediments to surveillance should be removed. That includes Presidential Policy Directive-28, which bestows privacy rights on foreigners and imposes burdensome requirements to justify data collection.

Hmmmm....

I just read that Tillerson was never told he was fired- just found out about it when the public did.

Sort of the Trump kingly way of getting rid of staff members.

Tillerson recently publically contradicted Trump on the greatesness of Trump's agreement to meet with Kim Jong Un. Probably what sparked it.

Pompeo? Another MIC/neocon advocate.

Kushner is likely Trump's handler. He has no experience whatsoever and he's overseeing foreign policy agreements?

Trump has gone full neocon. I smell war.

And just think: this chick's got a drone fleet now. She'll have no qualms bombing weddings and killing Americans... what's "collateral" when you're MAGA?

Pompeo is familiar, Gina not so much.

It appears she has strong leadership qualities that impress Trump. Quite historic milestone too.

Trump CIA pick Gina Haspel helped lead U.S. torture program

Dylan Stableford
March 13, 2018

In a statement, Trump called Haspel’s appointment of the CIA’s first-ever female director “a historic milestone.

”Last year, the New York Times noted that she oversaw the torture of the terrorism suspects and “later took part in an order to destroy videotapes documenting their brutal interrogations.”
Haspel, the Times said, played a “direct role” in the CIA’s “extraordinary rendition program,” in which “captured militants were handed to foreign governments and held at secret facilities, where they were tortured by agency personnel.”

Come on guys. If trump didn't put the CIA in charge of the military, he wouldn't be able to get any of his liberty agenda done. Just give him some time. I mean, isn't it better to get more neocon fp now so we can have less later? Michael Scheuer will be Secretary of State within a year.

trump has eliminated the individual mandate, lowered taxes and probably averted nuclear war with Russia. Give him some credit. I swear it's like some people would rather Hillary was president.
