Trump is working us towards leaving the UN, or shutting it down from lack of funds.
In the meantime he needs someone to speak for him there who he can make say what he wants in public.
Waltz fits that requirement and it avoids making too much of an enemy of whoever got him to hire Waltz in the first place.

You do know that the U.N. and the WEF have similar/same goals, and that Trump/Thiel are working the WEF angle, right? It seems the WEF has the investors so it's no biggie if the U.N. goes away. It's like the choice between a healthy glass of whole milk, and the U.N. Shasta drinkers who switch to WEF Coke because it's better funded.
