I don't know that it happened so I don't think that it happened.

I don't have multiple reliable and trusted sources of information that indicates that it happened.

The most reliable source is my own senses but even my own two eyes can be tricked.

I understand reality fine. Whether you believe the historical record or not thats just normal for foreign policy even if its a real story.

We have fought wars with numerous countries that we consider allies or partners.

We just aren't going to base our entire national security off of actions like that.

We fought a war against the German empire and they killed a lot of Americans but we arent going to make modern Germany or France our enemy.

We fought a war against the Japanese Empire and they killed a lot of Americans but we aren't going to make modern Japan our enemy.

We fought a war against the southern states but we arent going to be their enemies.

Its just not rational to make enemies out of people who are enemies of your enemies.

All that does it make it to where your enemies outnumber your allies and thats a loser for a political or foreign policy strategy.
