Fed govt allows me to deduct amount pd to my accountant to file taxes . Wy can I not also bill two days work it takes me to total everting to give to my accountant to keep my bill down ? Here in Texas we don't have a state income tax but proportional high property tax. There are various campaigns to adopt an income tax so property taxes can be reduced. My view is always, there some negatives with the plan and that there is no way it's acceptable to introduce an income tax without first eliminating the entire property tax system, employees, etc, or we'll end up with both. Virtually guaranteed.

Same concern here... we can end up with higher prices via tariffs and still have a full throttle income tax. And we're here now.

This first step to get rid of the IRS is to abolish it and replace it with nothing.

To rate taxes from awful to not as bad, my list...


Homestead tax - with this tax, you can't just live. Diabolic.

Income tax - here, your labor becomes some else's.

Sales tax - you can't even buy locally... but you can at least tailor down big buys to reduce your tax footprint.

Tariffs - at least they protect domestic interest, possibly strengthen critical supply chains. Reduces "dumping" that could otherwise hurt citizens.

Property tax on foreign owned land - want to take over our farm land to benefit a foreign country? It will cost you...

Usage tax / fees - pay for what you use.

Tariffs are entirely avoidable, Ebeneezer Scrooge and Scrooge McDuck can avoid paying a single penny.
If the rich choose to buy imported products that's on them, and they can afford to pay a greater share of the burden (by their own choices) and they also benefit more from the legitimate functions of government.

Commies want to tax everyone and have the state forcibly decide who gets how much of what.
