Tornado slams OK school

grades 4,5,6 are safe. They were not at the school, but at a church 1/4 mile away. Sounds like grade 3 may have not made it, they were taking refuge in a hallway. That hallway is completely gone. no word on k-2 grades

I just saw the school on the live feed for the news station. Oh, that looks awful.

My Granddad, Grandma and Uncle on my dad's side live near Moore. My Cousin, her husband and their two kids on my moms side live directly in Moore, and my aunt, uncle, and two more cousins and their 5 children on my mom's side live just south of Moore. Im not a religious person but prayers are appreciated.

Thanks,

I hope they're all okay. I'll say a prayer. It's a big line of storms. It's still south in Missouri, but we're hearing the thunder here, and it's getting darker.

someone said more than 20 plus separate twisters threatened to arrive or sadly arrived since yesterday

Some do, and some live in trailers, and some don't have time to get into them, and some are away from home, and some live in homes that don't have one and they can't afford to add them on... lots of reasons.

No time for politics...

Jehovah, be with those dear babies and parents that are suffering pain, worries, and loss of life. May you forgive us all for selfishness, unkindness, and greed towards one another.. forgive us our tresspasses against you, and spare us from our own wickedness. In the name of Jesus our Savior, Amen.

may 22nd is the date the big one hit Joplin

It is also the same location from the 1999 outbreak that had some of the most incredible damage I've seen photos of.

We can't put aside political rhetoric for just a bit ?

Im sure he gets the point already. But politics are in everything, so politics is going to come up at some point, so when that happens, we will probably have a livesly discussion on why tornados are still legal. Its for the children.

And how about the rest of the town, the little bit of CNN I could watch was all about the school. Theres probably more than 75 kids in the town too. and mommies, and daddies. Gosh I am so ready to drive out there to help with relief.

As an aside, this isn't uncommon. The school is reachable, there are probably rescue units near there even on a good day, and the buildings were large which means a whole lot of debris. The houses were demolished, but people got into windowless rooms, etc.. They are difficult to get to. There are people with backhoes and other equipment helping clear debris from on top of people, and there are people getting to hospitals.

There are also concerns about a movie theater, but it could be the structure fared better.
