in 1936 FDR at the height of the New Deal quipped "so goes Maine, so goes Vermont!"
we are certain at gettin' at LEAST one more big state as a sweet victory after this one
but i kinda sorta like the more vintage 1800s saying "so goes Maine, so goes the nation!"

1836 is a black cat with a broken mirror tied to his back walking under ladders. Maine is no longer in the cards.

Awww, I find 1836's post inspiring and refreshingly optimistic, (with insightful analysis). He's become one of the RPF posters that I seek out.

Keep it up 1836!

Does the Maine caucus end today?

no but the announcement is today. Even if we win, I wonder if they plan to report it. It sounds like something is off on a caucus Ron did well in in Portland and they aren't allowing the whole caucus including the delegate chair (a Paul supporter) who under the rules is allowed to appoint the delegates to vacant seats. Something tells me they plan to let some party insider pick up this slack in appointing delegates.

I love these threads and their optimism, but they seem to be jinxing us. Tonight was an absolutely crushing loss. Like really, really bad.

Ron's loss is the OP's fault.

Hardly lpg. Hardly.

If we are not optimistic, and positive, we will never be able to win a thing. We have to keep our enthusiasm, and that's the only reason I make posts like this. A lot of my posts are informative, some are optimistic and intended to stir people up. I think we need both kinds of things on this forum; that's why I participate.

This is a long, hard slog. And we can still win Maine, by the way. The Washington County caucus is next Saturday. But the fact of the matter is, we did very, very well. And we almost certainly DID win the delegates from Maine. So it's a pretty good showing.

Yes, if he'd have been out there caucusing, instead of posting this thread...

:D

Might have been illegal/impossible, considering I live in Texas. I travel to help the campaign as I can, but couldn't go to Maine.

I'm so used to us losing by 2 or 3% it almost doesn't hurt any more.

We'll win Washington! :toady:
