South Carolina has 7 congressional districts this time. In 2008, 2 districts were blue: District 5 went to Spratt and District 6 went to Clyburn. Although in 2010, Spratt lost lost to Mulvaney.

Democrat Jim Clyburn, the Assistant Democratic Leader of the U.S. House, has represented South Carolina's 6th congressional district since 1993 and is expected to seek re-election. The district is expected to continue to strongly favor Democrats.
