Time for another "alternative forum"?

The Republican Jewish Coalition is holding a Candidates' Forum on December 7th. It's an all-day affair with pricey tickets. Seven candidates will be there. Ron Paul was not invited because he's "no friend of Israel".

Can we have a repeat of the Iowa Taxpayers' Union alternative event? This would have to be thrown together on short notice while ensuring that plenty of RP-supporting Jewish folks attend. Location might be tricky but do-able, too.

I like this idea. How can we get RP and the campaign involved? It's real short notice but IIRC so was the one in Iowa.

I could easily be wrong, but I think the best way to handle something like this is to ignore it.

We're not going to win the support of ideological hawks with a very strong religious attachment to the state of Israel. It's not going to happen.

And I'm okay with that.

Meanwhile, there are other far more significant groups from an electoral standpoint that we should be winning over. The vast majority of senior citizens would want their checks to keep coming instead of having perpetual wars abroad. That is the case no matter how much Fox News or Rush Limbaugh they listen to. If Ron can convince them that he is the only one with a plan to save Social Security, then he wins the nomination. Easily.

Fine idea, but I think it will be hard to get RP to PA in person that day - that is in the heat of the push for IA, NH, etc. So RP will be more useful in those early states. But I encourage you people in PA to organize something, even if it is just an educational flyer handed out near the event. Like: "The truth about Ron Paul and Israel" or something.

I believe we should contact them and let them know he is not anti-Israel and to include him in their debate. That we will be vocal if they try to control the election by leaving out top-tier candidates.

He can put out a statement regretting his lack of an invitation and how much he supports Israel and wants them to be a sovereign nation, but nothing more needs to be done. IMO

That's a day that everyone else has to be stuck in DC, while Ron gets to work Iowa or NH the way winners do... pressing the flesh, eating in the local diners, and rallying the troops.

I agree with this post. At the same time, however, I think it is vitally important that we put this "Ron is anti-Israel" notion to bed. I'd like to see some really hard hitting internet ads about why Ron's foreign policy is good for America and good for Israel.
