Kraig, don't you realize that getting rid of religion is one of the last steps in a tyranny? That way, the State is elevated as the supreme being. You may think that you don't care, but you should. You don't need to have faith to care. Our Founders clearly believed that our rights came from God (our Creator); they were not bestowed upon us by government. Our rights are not granted by government; we own them because our Creator gave them to each of us when we were born. The reason this is so important is because if you believe that government grants rights, then you will easily go along with them taking them away. This one thing is the single most important difference between the U.S. Constitution and the U.N. Charter.

Go back and review MsDoodah's posts in this thread. She said it well.

I agree. I think the reason they used the word "Creator" instead of "God" is pretty clear though. As posted before in other RPF threads, not all of the founders were hardcore theists. Some maybe believed there was a god, but not like the Christian God. That's all beside my point though which is this. As long as you have a population that thinks it needs someone to tell them what to do you'll have tyranny in the form of religion or statism. From someone who needs neither, I see the struggle between religion and statism the way many see the struggle between Republican and Democat.
