Message from Ron (2/8/08)
Whoa! What a year this has been. And what achievements we have had. If I may quote Trotsky of all people, this Revolution is permanent. It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans -- and friends in many other countries -- have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there is one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties. How much I owe you. I can never possibly repay your generous donations, hard work, whole-hearted dedication and love of freedom. How blessed I am to be associated with you. Carol, of course, sends her love as well.

Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get. But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third parties -- just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican.

I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen.

In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our ideas in politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I will need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me.

Sincerely,

Ron

We get it, we hope he'll change his mind. Stop posting this over and over.

Thank you! People overlook that. They freak out just because he mentioned his congressional run. But its not like he just started the run TODAY.

So for everyone thinking he has a 3rd party run up his sleeve are wrong, unless this his first time lieing....so it kinda a bumber that he wont be because i really think if he ran on a 3rd party he could really have an EXCELLENT shot at getting into the white house....and why not just try and see what happens....in my eyes him not running in a 3rd party if he doesnt get the nomination it almost like he is quiting....for all the money we have donated his campaing the least he could do is realize that 99% of his supporters would love to see him run as a 3rd party candidate and that would also give him ALOT more time to get his message out. And if we got that extra time just think of how many more supporters we would get. We get hundreds if nmot thousands each day...so ya thats my 2 cents.

you guys can convince him. Organize a money bomb for a independent run and raise 10 million.

ron pauls always said he never rules anything out completely.
he leaves all his options open
why would he now?

we are so stupid? yah we are dumb...because im am quoting him directly?
yup makes us stupid...
Dont take ur anger out at us because Ron Paul has no chance and we are all begining to relize that and it pissis us all off.
And we all would love to vent out are frusturation somehow but dont call us dumb when we are FIGHTING FOR THE SAME thing you are. It makes no sense.

because the fundraising has dried up. the soft supporters are going back to their Lost recordings.

He's among the final 3 candidates in the GOP, and somehow some see this as a loss. If individuals can't muster up the support now, there's no way he will even get on the ballot as an Independent. he knows the battle real well when it comes to running for the presidency as a non-Republocrat. He probably looks at the support coming in right now and knows there's not a chance, and definitely not worth losing a House seat over.

Count me among those who are glad he's put to rest the 3rd party/indy, bailout option. This just means that going through the GOP is the one and only shot. So it's gotta be put it all on the line, because there is no option #2.

I'm not sure you understand me or perhaps I don't understand you.

To be clear, I think it's stubbornly stupid to deny that Ron Paul is not going to 3rd party (I'm not saying you are; this is direct to anyone who believes such). Saying "but that doesn't mean he won't run as an Independent" only makes you more annoying.

Ok lets say he get 50+ delagets...he doesnt have a chance in hell to win unless Huckabee drops out and McCain get screwed by some scandal and Paul is the last one standing.
So if there was a way to convince him and all of his supporters to drop a 10-20 million Independent Money Bomb and he goes along with it then im all for it.
But we need HIM to say this...we need him to anounce that if we can raise 10-20 million dollars thru (this day and this day) he will run as a 3rd party then its on like donky kong. But until then he said 3rd party outa the question and America will continue to fall and will be lost in the next 5-10 yrs.

It is beyond what his own stated expectations were!!

I would not characterize it as "loss" so much in the sense that if you were expected to be victorious it is "yours to lose".....

Paul is a "winner", In this round of the battle raging he has been DEFEATED by the MORE POWERFUL and NUMEROUOS forces of tyranny, primarily by the hand of the CORPORATE MEDIA (the "king makers").

Paul crushed a bunch of the fellow competition!!!! that is for sure.:):) That was nice to see him beat rudy and be an equal to fred.

The fact that he is still in the race now is because he is not a quitter (though one could argue a point that if you are in a marathon for instance can one say that coming in 3rd place is an accomplishment when you are an hour behind the 2nd place finisher???).

yes being the last 3 of the candidates in the race with 50+ delegates are above his expections but getting beyond you expectations doesnt get you into office....its that simple....

The Swift Boaters are about to give McCain some unwanted press coverage , so hang in there cuz it'll open the doors for a brokered convention

please change your mind ron!!! if mccain and hillary get the respective nominations you really have a chance granted we raise enough money!

That is one opinion. Personally my take is that the Democratic vote is going to be a LARGE BLOCK (greater than 50% of the total)....

Paul is the epitome of the "anti-socialist" and except for his non-intervention policy has NOTHING in common with these BIG GOV totalitarians!!!!

so you would have aproximately 50% vote democrat and then McCain and Paul splitting the rest (leaving Paul still at about 10-20% tops(my best guess))

Respect the mans intelligence. He's nobody's fool.
