Just a random thought....... I have no idea how wild of a speculation that is or not....
When Maddow was interviewing Doug Wead...she kind of brought up this angle and Doug made a remark to the effect that Mitt actually talked about the issues unlike the other candidates which they respected. I guess on some levels Ron and Mitt are alike...they're wives like each other...they've both been married a long time, I don't think Ron is a teetotaler like Mitt...but their are stories about him preferring soda over booze...so they might be on a similar wave-length there.
But on so many ways they are different. Mitt is just far too militant and bought off by the banks. Mitt presidency would equal more crony handouts to the banks from the Federal Reserve.
Ron needs to avoid making any such alliances...and speak the truth. If he chummies up with Mitt he will seriously compromise himself as he won't be able to attack health care mandates, fed bailouts or a whole host of issues. If Mitt tagged Rand as VP it would do a number of things. It would help Mitt in a brokered convention (big time). Ron would most likely not run as a third party candidate. The senate would a lose libertarian leaning republican which would delight the other republican senators. Rand would have little say in a Mitt administration and would totally compromise himself and his beliefs for the promise of political prestige.
Notice during the CPAC meeting that when Rand spoke the first thing he did was to attack the democrats and Obama's 'war on the rich'? Yeeesh...looked like Mitt pandering to me.
