Theory on Ron being so nice to Mitt: What if Mitt is considering Rand as vice?

Just a random thought....... I have no idea how wild of a speculation that is or not....

something has changed in Ron the last 2-3 weeks.. I don't know what it is but something is off.

I agree that something is up. Did you see the TV interview this morning, I think he implied that he and Romney (or maybe Romney and Rand) would be running together or that Romney would do something to get RP's endorsement.

That's a scary prospect. Ron would never run third party with his son on the opposition's ticket. I still wouldn't vote for Romney even with Ron himself as VP. I'd be so disappointed in Ron Paul.

If Mitt runs with Rand, I hope Mitt loses. Rand is our best voice in the Senate, and the GOP would like nothing better than to find a way to shut him up. Giving him an office in the White House is one very effective way of doing that.

Ron would never accept VP, and good for him. Rand, on the other hand, just might do it.

I think (hope?) perhaps Rand's views are closer to his father's than he lets on, and that he is just more willing to flex in some populist ways so that he doesn't end up sidelined as bad as Ron is. Hopefully just a different means to a Paulian end. :)

When Maddow was interviewing Doug Wead...she kind of brought up this angle and Doug made a remark to the effect that Mitt actually talked about the issues unlike the other candidates which they respected. I guess on some levels Ron and Mitt are alike...they're wives like each other...they've both been married a long time, I don't think Ron is a teetotaler like Mitt...but their are stories about him preferring soda over booze...so they might be on a similar wave-length there.

But on so many ways they are different. Mitt is just far too militant and bought off by the banks. Mitt presidency would equal more crony handouts to the banks from the Federal Reserve.

Ron needs to avoid making any such alliances...and speak the truth. If he chummies up with Mitt he will seriously compromise himself as he won't be able to attack health care mandates, fed bailouts or a whole host of issues. If Mitt tagged Rand as VP it would do a number of things. It would help Mitt in a brokered convention (big time). Ron would most likely not run as a third party candidate. The senate would a lose libertarian leaning republican which would delight the other republican senators. Rand would have little say in a Mitt administration and would totally compromise himself and his beliefs for the promise of political prestige.

Notice during the CPAC meeting that when Rand spoke the first thing he did was to attack the democrats and Obama's 'war on the rich'? Yeeesh...looked like Mitt pandering to me.

I'm more and more convinced that mitt, ron, and Rand have had a get together and Rand is the chosen one. Just fyi mitt doesn't drink soda or booze. I believe it is related to his lds faith.

Romney is closer to Ron Paul's positions (similar personal tax levels, similar corporate tax levels, both call for cutting the federal workforce by 10%) and maybe even lifestyle choices (big families, faithful, live socially conservative lifestyle, value faith) but I still remember during the 2008 campaign when Romney would laugh at Paul's positions. I would be completely shocked if Romney offered Ron Paul the VP. I wouldn't be completely shocked if Romney offered Rand Paul the position or either of them a cabinet position.

Wow...interesting thought. I'm surprised nobody around here has thought of this and started a thread about it before.
