The Reluctant Case for Trump

Source? The only person I've heard Trump mention as someone he wants to nominate to the Supreme Court is his sister, a very liberal circuit court judge. It's almost a certainty that Trump will nominate Supreme Court justices in the mold of Kagan and Ginsburg if he gets elected President.

Last night in the debate, I think it was the first question of the debate. He was the only one to give specific names.

Sure, this is from his twitter...same names he said in the debate

"Diane S. Sykes and William H. Pryor, Jr. would make excellent nominees to replace beloved Justice Scalia when I become President." #GOPDebate.

Those two people sound fairly good, but I just don't know if Trump is really sincere or if he just came up with those two names as a way to try to please conservatives. I certainly don't see Trump as being a conservative. He's basically a non ideological populist.

True, but since someone will be winning the presidency this year...who would you rather have it be?

You can stay home, or vote 3rd party...hell even do a write in. But either the GOP or Dem candidate will ultimately win.

Rubio? The Bleeding Heart Neocon.

Cruz? The Liberty Movements own Judas.

Bush? The RINO Heir to the Thrown.

Clinton? The Criminal Traitor.

Sanders? President of the Marxist Book Club.

Wake up man. Someone who we don't like is gonna win. Again. You don't have to vote for the lessor of two evils, but I would hope that you would prefer the lessor evil over the greater evil.

This sounds like the tired ol' "Stalin is such a bad guy so we need Hitler" argument.

Dammit Gunny, read up please. I'm not going to attempt to explain all of this again. You either understand what I'm trying to say....or you are purposely ignoring my point.

It has nothing to do with wanting Trump to win in 2016

I wish I had a dollar every time a UNEDUCATED voter spews out the nonsense that T-rump can't be bought. I would have enough money to finance all of the commercials necessary to get Rand Paul elected into the White House.

Trump Can’t Be Bought? Think Again.

The*Trump International Hotel and Tower, also known as*Trump Tower Chicago*and Trump Tower, is a skyscraper*condo-hotel in downtown Chicago, Illinois.

The demolition and construction were financed by a 650-million-dollar loan from Deutsche Bank and a trio of hedge fund investors who represented George Soros as one of their sources of funds according to The Chicago Tribune.

The contribution by George Soros is a $160 million investment, in the form of a mezzanine loan, a kind of second mortgage that typically charges a much higher interest rate than a first-mortgage construction loan.

And why does he want to be bought with a portfolio of 5 billion? What is the upside? What is Trump going to do with an extra 3 or 4 billion? Extend his life? He's almost 70 years old and the game is closing in on him. Your point would have far greater credence if he was in his mid 30s or 40s. Trump has openly confessed that he was part of the establishment and partook in questionable deals. Trump has 1 foot in grave and all the money in the world can't alter this fact.

The timing of this justice dying is exposing the idealogical differences people at RPF have, they were always there but they were largely sidelined for a greater good, now for the first time in 8 years because we can't pull for a Paul to win the white house before super Tuesday, everything changes.

Blue, I agree....but I must know. Why did you change your avatar?

There is a chance that Trump could be the political version of the William Munny character in Unforgiven.

This forum is going to be a ton of fun if it's Trump Vs Sanders.

I want a Trump verses Sanders because it is so polarizing it will force people to pick a side.
And Trump has already tipped his hand on Judges he would put up for the supreme court.
Now if the GOP senate can stop a liberal Obama pick, it's going to force conservatives and yes even libertarians, to hold their noses this election cycle, because 2 or 3 more liberal judges on the bench will change America forever.
When that epiphany hits home, they will rally around the one person that can stop it.

Understand this, whoever the GOP puts up they will absolutely need the Blue Dog Democrats to win. In a Sanders verses Trump some will be moving to Trump, as Sanders is a too far left socialist for them. But they would vote for Hilary.

The "SCOTUS will ruin us unless you elect X" argument didn't work on me for the past 12 years, it won't work now.

I'm writing in Ron Paul.

Let me help you out. Trump supporters are all a bunch of cucks who fantasize about Trump doing the deed raw with their wives, girlfriends and pets. They want to live vicariously through him. That might help you understand the logic at work here.

Yeah, if they want my vote, it's pretty easy to get it: nominate someone who actually gives a shit about the Constitution.

That shouldn't even be a discussion in America for criminy sake, but here we are.

Problem here Gunny is American's are stupid. They like the glitter, they like the gold and they fall for the BS plants in the audience that sway their opinion on who they should vote for. It's freaking pathetic.

Well, they'll either learn the hard way, or they won't learn at all. If they want my vote they know how to get it. :)

Awesome, we had about 2.5-3 pages of pretty good discussion going...or at least discussion where everyone had read through the thread and knew what was going on, with clarified understanding, intention, and discussion.....and then these bozos come in with their with this drivel.

This thread had absolutely nothing to do with what you are all bashing on.

This is about the 2020 election, not the 2016 election. It's barely about Trump.

No one is asking you to vote for the bombastic oompa loompa. We are discussing strategy, and how we can use him and his legion of uneducated jingoists to destroy the GOP and rebuild the party.

Shut up with your "I'm a ideological purist, so I won't even talk about the reality that someone that I don't like will win...and since I refuse to talk about it, I will have no long term plan for 2020...Golly, I hope these 20 dollars I donate will carry the Liberty Movement through for next election!" And you wonder why we lose...

So please, either, read the thread, and understand where I am coming from, or keep sounding like an idiot. Is it really too much to ask to read the thread before you put your gnarly fingers on the keyboard?

Don't get me wrong, I'm with you. As a matter of fact I am one of those that would love for Rand to become Trump's VP and then after Trump has finished screwing stuff up, which may or may not happen. Rand comes in and rights a ship that has been off course for the better part of 30+ years.

If Trump wins, I doubt that he would pick up Rand....and I strongly doubt Rand would accept...but I do agree with the 2nd part of your statement, rand coming in to right the ship that has been sinking under both parties.

I think the Liberty Movement needs to keep as much distance from Trump as humanly possible (even if we under the table support him so he beats out Bernie or Hillary)...that way we can rip on him all through his presidency, and at the election, we can show a clear, un-hypocritical contrast.

Trumps election will give us prime condition to take 2020, what say you?

Depends what Trump shows up. I wouldn't be so confident. All I'm concerned with at the moment is with Trump blowing through the neocon barricade. Everything else is gravy from that point on. Think of the neocon empire as thick vines that strangle the liberty tree. Until the weeds are removed, there can be no progress.
