The official YT people doing crazy stuff thread

So....difficult to watch with the closed captioning that keeps saying "write wrongs" as opposed to "right wrongs." That said this sounds like a "if the shoe fits" comment rather than an attack on white people. It's no different than when you or others say "Black people do XY or Z." Her point, and you can disagree with it, is that white America "righted wrongs" done to every other ethnic group. I don't think that's accurate because the Native Americans keep getting dumped on.

See:

But Japanese Americans got reparations for a few years in internment. Trump just basically did reparations for Jewish falculty and students and Columbia University for being "shunned" during th pro-Palestinian protests. Ford and GM got reparations for being Nazi companies and their factories getting bombed in WW 2. (And they turned around and gave reparations to Jews). And yet, there are still survivors of the black neighborhoods that got sprayed as part of a government experiment and no reparations for them.

I don't thing challenging white people who don't want to address past (and present) inequity is "derision or disparagement" against white people in general.

Hmmm... Does that include ending slavery? Because that's what "YT" ancestors did.
Since corporations are basically immortal one could look at older corporations that benefitted directly from slavery.

If Nazi companies like Ford and GM can receive reparations for Nazi era factories being bombed by presidents who were no longer in office and/or dead, certainly slave profitting companies that are still around can at least be looked at.

How many wrongs is it going to take to equal a right?

If there are direct people who can prove direct harm from a specific corporation because of direct slavery, then they can certainly go to court. It's the blanket stuff that's objectionable - taking money from non-perpetrators and giving it to non-victims.

It's not a question of how many wrongs. It's a question of what legal and/or political principles can be established. If a corporation can receive reparations for supposed wrong done to it

Reparations are generally for non judicial (you can't go to court) remedies. Ford and GM didn't go to court to get reparations. They went to Congress. Congress authorized reparations to the Japanese. Trump used executive power to force Columbia University to pay reparations to Jewish students and falculty. The last survivor of the Tulsa race riots went to court and tried to get reparations and lost. She should have gone to the state legislature or Tulsa city council. Often there are statute of limitations issues that block cases that otherwise have merit.

Yeah, Trump's a moron. That's been established.

And there are reasons why there are statutes of limitation.

Moron or not, what he did was perfectly within his consitutional powers in that case.

And there are reasons why there are statutes of limitation.
And there are reasons why there are non-judicial remedies that can override the statute of limitations. You can't argue "muh constitution" only when it suits you.

Well considering most federal spending goes to white people I'd consider that an even trade. From Steve Bannon splling the beans on "a lot of MAGA's on medicaid"

To farm subsidies, to all of those billions Elon got.

I posted that merely as an example of "yt" being used as a pejorative or diminished word.

I have already made my point on reparations very clear, numerous times in other threads.

tldr: No Reparations without Repatriations.

I am all for reparations, just so long as any single member of an aggrieved group receiving reparations, leaves the US, and can never return.

I would include Japanese and Germans as well (yes German citizens of the US were treated harshly during WWII as well) if it were not for the Constitutional provision against passing "after the fact" laws.

So...I'm pretty sure ex post facto doesn't mean what you're thinking it means. And to be clear, I don't think she was using that as a pejorative or diminished word. But you are free to have your own opinion, Like I said, she used the world "YT" the same way you use the word "Black." Anyhow, if you want to be offended by YT be offended.

White Americans make up the largest percentage of total welfare recipients overall at 43%.

This is roughly 17 percentage points less than the overall population of Whites in the nation at 60%.

Black are 23% of total welfare recipients, which is roughly 1.7 times the black population segment.

I just assumed she wasn't sure how to spell "white"

I included ALL FEDERAL SPENDING (farm subsides, corporate welfare etc) and you clipped that out because you know I'm right.

No, that's just the point...it means nothing to me, other than pointing it out.

As far as "ex post facto", if legislation were passed that mandated any Japanese US citizens that took reparations for WWII era grievances, long after the fact, would be deported, wouldn't that be an "ex post facto" law?

Gotcha. For the record I consider cr@cker and r3dneck diminishing towards white people and I don't go around using those.

Ah. Okay. Yes I suppose so. Well I would be okay with such a law as long as we could deport every white person who's ancestors didn't come in through ICE. 😄
