The neocon two-step -- fear of a third party run

Whoever the higher-ups are, wherever the masterminds behind the media and big corporations sit in their gilded thrones (and we all know they exist, in some form or another) they are crapping their pants that Ron Paul has this kind of support. Forums with 650+ viewers during debates. Millions raised out of thin air without the taint of corporate corruption. Speaking to a group of 2000+ screaming college students. No other candidate can equal this, especially at a grassroots level. In fact, no other candidate EVER has garnered this kind of enthusiasm, at least not in my lifetime.

Funny thing is, us hardcore supporters have recognized this for awhile, wondering how the media could possibly be so dull. I think the media and the GOP are all having "oh shit" moments right about now. "Just call him a libertarian!" "His supporters are wackos!" These are honestly the best attacks we've seen from the media, because there is nothing else. There has never been a man that inspires so much hope with the addition of integrity and a perfect voting record running for office in recent memory. There is not a molecule of bone marrow in his closet. We are the GOP's only hope. I have a feeling RP won't accept VP. If they choose failure over a Ron Paul presidency... so be it.

Good observations, I sensed some of the same things.

They KNOW this Ron Paul thing is getting pretty big. I think they are scared that he really does have a chance. They want to push him into running 3rd party because they know if he does that he's done, no more debates, very little MSM attention.

2008 will be VERY interesting to say the least.

They want to do just the opposite actually. Previously they figured that was how to get rid of him and make him go away. If he doesn't win the GOP nod and goes 3rd party the Republicans go from having a slim chance to winning the WH to no chance at all and Hannity and every other guy on the stage tonight knows this.

The third party question is just a way to make him look marginal to people who are just now tuning in to the race.

Just like the "1988 Libertarian Presidential nominee" Fox mentioned in his "bio" tonight. Instead of "Air Force Captain" or "Obstetrician", after US Congressman.

They're not going to be asking this question after Ron Paul places first or second in Wyoming, Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, and Nevada in the earliest contests, and starts looking like the surprise (to them) front-runner.

I absolutely agree with your thoughts, they would choose failure instead. I have to say I was in complete shock seeing an audience of 3,000 booing someone promoting the idea of peace ... there is such an overwhelming feeling by some that the country has to 'save face' by continuing on in Iraq without end.

And these people are supposed to be Christians?? Do they not realize the hypocrisy of their actions? Amazing.

Everyone should continue to spread the positive messages of Dr. Paul. Help those who have not yet learned of him understand what he wants to provide for the country in a positive and enthusiastic way.

Tonight I was with a group of people in a pool hall/restaurant watching the debate on TV. Afterwards, on the way out I stopped at a station where the servers hung out. I dropped off a stack of flyers discussing Ron Paul's bill to kill the tax on tips. Funny thing is that waitresses seem to really LIKE the idea of keeping their money. You really ought to see the looks on their faces when they see that they have a presidential candidate trying to help THEM.

Great job, Brent ... I can't stress enough the importance of appealing to people's sensibilities and interests. If someone is strongly anti-war, talk to them about how Ron Paul wants to get us out of Iraq. If someone thinks they are overtaxed, talk to them about the goal of phasing out income tax. Don't overload them with lots of ideas which may or may not appeal to them.

I think what we need to always remember is there is no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate, because we're all unique people with unique points of view. Get people interested about the things most pertinent to them ... there are always some issues for voters that are non-negotiable and others that are negotiable.

Tonight McCain said he'd rather loose an election than a war. There are Republicans who actually believe that whatever we're doing in the Middle East, however ineffectual and expensive, is keeping the terrorists busy over there and helping them sleep at night. Since 9/11, the war on terror is inseparable from the Republican party. It is the defining issue, and will be the hardest obstacle to overcome in order to convince them to give RP the nomination.

As far as Christians being hypocrites... well that is an old story :) What's the commandment? You know, the ten basic rules God gave the Israelites? Thou shalt not... vote? No no no. Thou shalt not question? Hmmm... oh yea, THOU SHALT NOT MURDER!

... and ask Hannity and his ilk if they will support Dr. Paul when Dr. Paul wins the Republican nomination!

The neocons will do a 360 and become his best friend if it's immediately evident he will win. It's already happening. Hannity is softening up and Ingram recently spoke will of him--they are trying to smooth the transition of their audience and keep as many sheep as possible. They want to keep their jobs, after all, and to them it's all about partisan politics because conflict=ratings. Remember when Hannity was bashing Clinton's foreign policy a few years ago? How quickly we forget, and a hell of a lot of people will be "forgetting" when RP wins :D
