I found this a bit interesting, especially the least admired top 10.

I don’t usually do list posts, but it’s nearing the end of the year, and this is a fun one. The good folks over at Right Wing News conducted a survey of 230 “right of center blogs” and compiled the list of 2014’s most admired conservatives.

Here’s the top 25 (with lots of ties):

25) Rick Perry (47)

25) Dana Loesch (47)

25) Darrell Issa (47)

25) Trey Gowdy (47)

25) George W. Bush (47)

24) Mark Levin (49)

23) Dick Cheney (49)

20) Tim Scott (50)

20) James O’Keefe (50)

20) Ben Carson (50)

19) Ted Cruz (51)

15) Allen West (52)

15) The Koch Brothers (52)

15) Jonah Goldberg (52)

15) Matt Drudge (52)

12) Glenn Reynolds (53)

12) David Limbaugh (53)

12) Megyn Kelly (53)

11) Bobby Jindal (54)

9) Rush Limbaugh (55)

9) Condi Rice (55)

5) Mark Steyn (57)

5) Antonin Scalia (57)

5) Michelle Malkin (57)

5) Charles Krauthammer (57)

4) Mia Love (60)

1) Scott Walker (63)

1) Clarence Thomas (63)

1) Thomas Sowell (63)

It’s worth noting that tied for first place are two black men and one white man, and in the top 5 spots there are three black Americans and an Asian American woman. This is hardly the picture of racist, sexist conservatism that the left likes to paint.

And now the least admired…any guesses?

10) Bill O’Reilly (35)

9) Peter King (35)

8) Chris Christie (36)

7) Jeb Bush (37)

6) John Boehner (39)

5) Alex Jones (41)

4) Karl Rove (43)

3) Lindsey Graham (43)

2) John McCain (45)

1) Megan McCain (55)

With the exception of Alex Jones (who is disliked for vastly different reasons), the bottom 10 are completely self explanatory. They’re also the darlings of the Washington GOP establishment. They’re also the ones who would like to decide who gets to be our next President. Heaven help us!

I'm sort of hurt by how Rand (nor Ron even) appear on this list, but I guess it really depends on who responded. Here's a list:

Looking further into their data, I found info on both Ron & Rand.

For Rand:

5) How do you feel about Rand Paul?
A) I greatly admire this person. 16.92% (11 votes)
B) I admire this person. 41.54% (27 votes)
C) I don’t have an opinion about this person. 21.54% (14 votes)
D) I dislike this person. 18.46% (12 votes)
E) I greatly dislike this person. 1.54% (1 votes)

For Ron:

6) How do you feel about Ron Paul?
A) I greatly admire this person. 2.99% (2 votes)
B) I admire this person. 26.87% (18 votes)
C) I don’t have an opinion about this person. 23.88% (16 votes)
D) I dislike this person. 25.37% (17 votes)
E) I greatly dislike this person. 20.90% (14 votes)

Also looking deeper in, Ron Paul came in #19th on the most DISLIKED people, ahead of Arnold Scharzenegger, and behind Christine O'Donnell.

Wall to wall neocons. Disappointing, but hardly surprising. I've been saying this whole time that the GOP's supposed shift toward libertarianism is pretty much entirely rhetorical. The only bright spot is Thomas Sowell in the tie for first. He's easily the best "mainstream" conservative intellectual; though he is nowhere near radical enough, and often blinded by partisan nonsense. Still though, Intellectuals and Society is a fantastic book; my teenage cousin was interested in learning more about my philosophy and that was one of the books I recommended he read to better understand where I'm coming from.

I can't help but wonder if Sowell tops the list (along with Justice Thomas) because of the almost pathological desire Republicans have to over-praise black conservatives. If he's just there as a token, I'd far sooner take Walter Williams.
