I'm a newer RP supporter and I've heard so much about how important the primaries are, however I can't seem to get a straight answer on how it works. What is it I'm supposed to do? I've heard some say become a delegate, how do I do that? I went to the official MI website and they don't even have any info about the primaries, I've tried calling and E-mailing them, no response. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Michigan is a Closed primary state(may change) which means you have to register republican to vote, which is an easy 5 minute process.

Becoming a delegate(and anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) means that you have a chance to represent a group of people with your vote, which means more influence. I don't know if Michigan only counts delegate votes though.

Hope that helped!

Becoming a delegate is the first step.

Depending on where you live, you would get a form from your township clerk for your precinct. I live in a rural area and my precinct is my township. There are (x) amount of slots to fill per precinct depending on population. You must have it in the county clerk's office before the set deadline. Your name is placed on the ballot and then the precinct votes for who they want to fill those slots during the primary voting. Your term is two years if elected. When your county calls your party to convention the elected delegates come to the convention and elect among themselves those persons they want to send to the state convention, there are rules listed on the MI GOP site for conventions. At the state convention members vote for those delegates that they want to represent them at the national convention. It would help if you knew who your Campaign for Liberty leader is in your area and have them do a run through with you.
Hope this helps.
