The media is not invincible. Let's figure out how to take them down.

That simply isn't true, most of those polls are worded in such a way that it refers to the "mainstream media" and Republicans associate that term as meaning "the liberal media" so of course they hate and distrust the liberal media. However, those same people absolutely do trust Republican media and Republican media is just as much a part of the establishment as CNN.

I agree with Kevin. People of the older generation are apart of the Matrix and Morpheus ain't there to give them the red pill, lol. While the younger generation is beginning to wake up to the nonsense because of the internet. I lived in a world when there was no internet and the mere thought that this beautiful creation could be controlled and censored frightens me. The battle to beat the media is here, this is our turf and we must defend her at all costs. To quote a Underarmor commercial "We Must Protect this House!"

I'm sorry but the older generation needs nicely dressed clean shaven lads, and respectfully dressed women with minimal makeup to go out and greet them with a handshake and a smile. Be polite and respectful and go door to door with talking points that make them feel safe with Ron Paul. Make sure they know their social security and medicare is safe with Ron Paul. He is here to protect them not to pull their safety net from them. Old people get scared very easily.

Once the older generation dies off the MSM will be powerless

I sometimes wonder what the world will be like in 15-20 years. About half the young voters today were for Ron Paul while 2/3 of the older voters weren't. Plus, I think young people become more likely to vote as they get older. So even with the government trying to take control of the Internet, the establishment will eventually lose control and die off and we could be living in a much better country by then. Just have to keep spreading the message.

here is some quote from "1984"

"But what was strange was that although Goldstein was hated and despised
by everybody, although every day and a thousand times a day, on platforms,
on the telescreen, in newspapers, in books, his theories were refuted, smashed,
ridiculed, held up to the general gaze for the pitiful rubbish that they were, in
spite of all this, his influence never seemed to grow less. Always there were
fresh dupes waiting to be seduced by him."

What we need is a show like HBO's 24/7 series to follow Ron Paul's campaigns. It would be a great way to show how the media manipulates his message and blacks him out! It would show Americans what goes into a presidential election and show behind the scenes. It would also introduce viewers to Ron Paul and others helping in his campaign

I got this idea while watching there recent 24/7 series that followed the Philadelphia flyers and new York Rangers leading up to the winter classic a few days ago! It's on demand look it up if you can get it

We just need a station that's actually fair and in the hands of reputable people, not the likes of the Murdochs and Turners of the world. It wouldn't have to be anti-fedgov or anti-anything really, it just needs to be fair. I have over 1,000 stations with my provider (Verizon FiOS) and I'm pretty sure that a lot of these channels make very little money and probably didn't cost too much to start up. We just need somewhere to start.. people are always going to watch TV is my point and the internet is not incorruptible.

NPR. Uncorrupted. Unbiased. Yet very few listen. The few who do listen are the ones who already think for themselves, and the ones who don't just regurgitate the whole "NPR is liberal" nonsense.

Unfortunately you can have the most unbiased and most informative station on Earth and the people we're trying to connect with, the 'I love Fox' variety, wouldn't be caught dead reading/watching it. Gotta disconnect their brain from Fox first.

Yes. Excellent plan. Until the next day the idiot box tells them Ron Paul used to sacrifice babies in heathen rituals, or so their unnamed sources say.

Is a station alone really enough? What if no one watches?

The key to the power of the MSM is eyeballs-on-screens. It's attention. It's the time people spend in passive absorption. You're not going to get that with just any-old station. Plus, there are plenty of websites doing that kind of thing already. Not Big Enough.

No of course it's not enough, we still need to protect the internet and educate people about media bias. With that being said, I think a fair station would help us and it could potentially grow over time if it gained a good reputation. It could also be a platform to educate others on Libertarian ideas too, imagine having the first televised Libertarian presidential debate or something.

NPR is only radio and is largely publicly funded which turns a lot of people off to it, though.

FORGET THE MEDIA!

The media is NOT the enemy - ignorance is.

You're all getting distracted. It's about getting the message out AND getting the media onto our side.

This is very true. This is why we have super brochures. Why not a super brochure on media manipulation? A super brochure on all sorts of issues. We need to get door to door also. To many people are online and not knocking on doors. We have to be like the nicest Jehovah witnesses going door to door with free literature. Abstractly, we have to push this like a religion.

Here's at least one idea that fits my original framework: let's incentivize the whistleblowers.

Tens of thousands of people work for the MSM.

If were, say, to offer some form of reward (most likely cash), basically put out a bounty and say "$100,000 to anyone providing incontrovertable evidence of intentional media attempts to suppress Ron Paul, or to generally manipulate the election outcomes."

Obviously the main trick with doing this is getting the details right. The evidence must incriminate sufficiently prominent media members. It must be sufficiently incriminating. It must be incontrovertible (since the source of the evidence obviously has an ulterior motive in the form of the reward being offered). But figuring out the logistics of all that is merely a technical challenge.

This might lead to evidence that is very helpful to us. BUT even if it doesn't, this would be one example of a way to make it more difficult for the MSM to manipulate things, because they'd suddenly have to fear every one of their employees as a potential snitch.

And making the employees aware of this would be easy. We can look them up and notify them directly, or we can even just literally stand outside MSM buildings informing people as they go to work.

PS: I'm not an expert on what the legality of this is. I assume it's legal because my gut tells me it should be legal, but then again my gut tells me blackmail should be legal and yet it's not. Anyone with expertise on this feel free to chime in.

Killing Two birds with one stone...

New announcement by Karl Rove to FBN - Romney wins by 14 votes. The pundit asks how does he know? Still no official announcement...

With regard to the MSM issue. Here is our perfect opportunity to "kill two birds with one stone".

Santorum is toast already (really!!!!). He is an MSM fabrication. Between the bunch of us we have all the MSM created evidence so that he would surge and 25% of the sheeple follow.

The USA is focused on Santorum right now. Let's do exactly what Jon Stewart would do - but longer, better, even funnier - made by hundreds of us.

Let's make sure the World knows that the MSM created this guy (and all the other surges).

This is Tai Chi - Use the MSM's own energy to beat them at their own game. I saw the MSM play God. Let's use the force Luke.

Jesus freaking God! I don't believe what I'm reading.

Dude, how on earth did you think that ignorance happenes to be widespread? Does ignorance grow on trees? Do people inhale ignorance thru their nostrils?

When are you Paultards gonna realise that the media is SECOND ONLY to the Armed forces as THE MOST important weapon of the establishment.

I would recommend setting up a cental website with a catchy name.

www.killMSM.com or something like that.

We should then have a very focused effort and initiate a boycott/letter/creative warfare campgain on the sponsors of a certain show on a certain netwrok. The key being, it a focused effort and knocking them down one by one and then moving to another show. If we can make Kelly Clarkson's sales go up, we can also have the opposite effect on others.

Also would be great if we could somehow get a liberty oriented channel on the major networks or sattelite firms that focuses on all the important issues and current events from a freedom perspective.

Bottom line is we need to destroy the MSM's capability to manipulate elections by manipulating the older crowd which almost exclusively gets their info from the MSM.

However, lets put this project on hold and focus on getting Paul elected for now.

I have a "three pronged plan" to black out the "legacy" media. All are within reach. The time frame to complete the project might be a few years away but there is a lot that can be done practically overnight.

First, set up a software TV station on the internet.
Second, make that station "distributed" ie peer-peer so that there is no huge bandwidth charges.
Third, transition that station from internet only to a internet/traditional-type one.

First stage is more or less done. I put something together at http://verticalresearch.com/tvstation/ . I haven't made much effort to do any real good programming, more of a proof of concept. Problem is that my bandwidth/license allows me only 100 simultaneous connections and, let's just say, insufficient bandwidth for steady watching/listening. I'm paying for the bandwidth for a month to see if there is any interest in moving ahead with a project of this sort but I couldn't begin to deal with 1000s or 100,000s of viewers so .... remember, this is "live" so everyone is seeing/hearing the same thing at the same time.

Second stage. Distribute the resource load. Fortunately, the technology is there, free, easy, and open-source. Basically a add-on for most browsers. We would need eg a few hundred people to act as "seeders" in order to prevent a single point of failure/censorship. StreamTorrent and SwarmPlayer.

Third stage, establish an alternative internet - wireless, and legal. Again fortunately, the tech exists and so does the protocols and infrastructure that are necessary. This entails a simple license (ham radio) and a USB device to transmit over the ham radio band. Look into GNU-Radio. This has the benefit of establishing alternative communication in local areas in the event of disasters where the internet is down.

Of course, content is necessary - the software I'm using for the tvstation allows anyone with a laptop, webcam, and microphone, to become a live reporter. Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder is free, sophisticated, and multiplatform. Other software can be used alternatively but it doesn't matter as long as there is something.

Finally, I can integrate a multi-line phone system into it which can then be used for phone-in type talk shows, etc., conference calls.

I've written quite a bit more about it, I'm on the board of directors for a local community/university radio station and we've been investigating this sort of stuff, we have a real FM broadcast license but we're looking at going increasingly digital/online so we've been looking hard at the possibilities.

violent language = bad idea

We should then have a very focused effort and initiate a boycott/letter/creative warfare campgain on the sponsors of a certain show on a certain netwrok. I don't know if you follow Reddit at all but they're basically attempting this idea as a way to influence politicians. Their theory is to pick politicians at random who supported things like NDAA/SOPA and try to get them kicked out of office this election season. I think this idea can be very effective -- target one show or media personality at random, if you can get the show cancelled or cost the person their job you'll make the others afraid because they can't count on you going after the worst offenders -- you're willing to go after anyone at random. Making an example out of them. This strategy has been compared to the Roman army's strategy of decimation.

However, lets put this project on hold and focus on getting Paul elected for now.

This is why I stressed that we need to focus on pressure points to use against the MSM that can be implemented in a short timeframe. We need to bind the chains down on them NOW so they don't steal the election from Dr. Paul.

We need more ideas, but the whistleblower rewards idea I mentioned before is an example of something we could do quick. Get $100,000 in credit card-tied threshold pledges, you could have the reward lined up overnight.
