hi folks,
i don't think so.......why be so vulgar?
i find it offensive - does anyone else?

i bet dr. paul wouldn't take to kindly to it if he was to come and read posts on the board.

i did an advanced search on it and was surprised how many times people use that
word here.

In *most* cases it isn't. But Ron Paul would not sit there and chastise you for using it. This IS a free country (sort of) after all.

Does eff work? Sorry, I come from a town of gangsters, whores, and drug lords, im use to having to talk trash =\

Use of the eff word does not bother me unless its every other word.

Even then, it's my choice to read here, and Josh isn't into language control (thank goodness!), so...

Carry on, guys.

I never got why people are offended by a word.

Now if I were to use that word against someone "f you," sure I can see how someone could be offended. But just for the reason that it is being used as an attack.

If it is just being used for emphasis, I have never gotten why people are offended by that. It is just a freaking word.

And what is the point of putting eff or F***, everyone knows what you mean so you might as well just type it....

There is actually a really good documentary film on this topic:

I don't mind it but I try to avoid using it... unless i'm frustrated..

and please i'm getting a little tired of everyone using the arguement "Dr. Paul wouldn't like this." or "Dr. Paul wouldn't do that."

Well.. we're not all Dr. Paul.. :)

It's a coarse word, if it weren't people wouldn't use it. It gets a rise out of people. I think that's why a lot of my professors like to drop the f-bomb once and a while. It resonates really on an emotional basis however so it detracts from real argumentation. However, as a sidenote, my profs who curse are the most fun to be around... I don't know if that has any significance at all, but it's true.

I don't think it's necessary, especially on a politics board, but sometimes we all want to use it.

So, I propose a better alternative, say "fudge" instead. :)

i like f* or f*d b/c it makes me think of the way
they bleep it out on t.v.

i always found that humerous

fuhhbp...

edit: if i wanted a censor i'd change the channel.

fudge means the exact same thing in the context. the only reason fuck is a bad word is the empowerment that people put behind it.

I could never be close friends with someone who is offended by a word in and of itself. If someone is offended by a word alone it speaks volumes about their personality.

That isn't to say I couldn't work with or be acquaintances with such a person very easily.

freedom of speech is my freedom that i hold the highest.

so fucking fuckity fuck :)

The right to do a thing, does not mean that it is the right thing to do.

You have the right to say the word, sure, and others have the right to express their distaste for vulgarity. In polite society, doing something that others find offenisive just to demonstrate your right to do so would be considered childish at best, or just plain rude.

There was a time when the word would rarely be heard outside of high school boys trying to impress their friends - kinda sad to see it used so frequently among otherwise high-minded people who are trying to save their country.

I just want to know what ultimate power came around at some point in the English language and decided... well okay, Screw is fine but Fuck is not. Doesn't make any sense to me. Ass and butt, Shit and Poop... all these are synonyms but at some point one was taboo and one wasn't.

I just want to know who decides these things.
