I'm old enough to remember a day when, while watching movies at the theater and a NAZI or East German official would demand "Your papersss, pleassse." there would still be a few people in the audience who would spontaneously boo and hiss, recognizing the trappings of a true police state and wanting nothing to do with it.

Nowadays, when confronted with the modern American equivalent (checkpoints, govt mandated verification for employment, etc.) we have people in the so-called "liberty movement" cheering it on, and failing to recognize it for what it is, or simply ignoring the reality.

And they wonder why the so-called "liberty movement" consistently fails to make any significant progress. They can't even maintain a committment to actual liberty within their own ranks. Why would anyone outside ever take them seriously?

Indeed.

I live six miles north of the border. The Border Patrol checkpoint here is 28 miles north of the border: 22 miles north of me. They have K-9 units that are sniffing for drugs. The checkpoint has little or nothing to do with illegals, and is used instead to enforce the "War on Drugs".

And for the record, I don’t care if they’re “documented” or not. Though I prefer not. Because once documented, one becomes owned by the state, and thus eligible for free handouts.

If they happen to commit a crime, we already have procedures for that.

The question is: do I or my neighbors have the right to desire that?

That's what's being questioned and denounced...the very idea that we would want such a thing.

That's not my purpose.

Of course not. They do what they want, and say that serves your purpose. Maybe it does, and maybe it doesn't. But they depend on people not checking to see what purpose it really serves, or assuming it'll serve their purpose even if it serves the evil purpose better, or putting up with the evil purpose because even though the thing doesn't serve any good purpose, because putting up with it "sends a message" to somebody.

Open Borders Mania is just as incurable as TDS, I continue to call for sensible moderate measures but I almost expect that we will end up like Europe at this point, eventually there will be race/culture wars and we will either be provoked and forced into killing and driving the invaders out or they will kill us.

It won't be pretty and it will be much less fair and it won't allow for individualism at all, if they can't speak English or maybe just if they have the wrong skin color they will be the enemy to be killed or driven out.

I'm not calling for it, I'm doing everything I can to prevent it but it will be out of my hands, the emergency will be upon us and people will gravitate to the extremists and lash out wildly like a wounded animal.
