I don't think I'm alone in knowing the difference between a traditional conservative and a neoconservative all for lack of better labels. As for labels, there is a myriad of them to define, or, try to define what groups of people have in common. The way I see it, the Republicans are going through an identity crises right now and they don't even know what a "conservative" is anymore. Consider their rejection of Ron Paul's foreign policy; they said he's more "liberal" than Barack Obama. WTF? OK,, most if not all of us who support Ron Paul know that it was progressives like Woodrow Wilson and Teddy Roosevelt and McKinley who started our country on a path toward globalism, empire, interventionism and, meddling in the affairs of other countries, and, it was the traditional conservatives who always opposed it. As the years progressed, progresssivism took a stronger hold within the GOP until they were finally full blown interventionists under Bush 41 but, instead of calling them progressives, we started to call them new style conservatives (neoconservatives). So while Ron Paul is more closely likened to the "old right", which were anti-interventionism and in strong opposition to the constant wars of Democrats and, their Republican neo-conservative counter-parts, the entire narrative has been altered, twisted and distorted from the original position of Republicans which like the founding fathers, were non-interventionist. Somehow, that became "isolationism" during the Wilson administration;another false narrative. Americans now believe that if we don't meddle in the affairs of every other country and, act like an empire and police the entire world, and, maintain over 700 military bases in 140 different countries then, the only other alternative is to completely isolate our country from the world? WTF? We who are active have wittnessed otherwise intelligent people buy into stupid narratives before but, this one is near the top in my opinion.
The war on drugs is another issue where a modern false narrative has been created to distort true positions and confuse either the issue itself or, the people who view the issue. That too was brought to us by progressive during the Wilson administration while the old right, or traditional conservatives strongly opposed it. Of course Ron Paul is a traditional conservative member of the old right realtive to this issues as well, but in today's rhetoric, they labels him a liberal. Meanwhile these false narratives divide people along imaginary lines of demarcation an dput them on the worng side. Example, is Chrisitans who supposedly follow the Prince of Peace, supporting every war mongerer that runs for office as a Republican. Now, they are "pro-life" and "pro-war" and they don't recognize how they have been manipulated by false narratives into violating their core beliefs.
I think we can take back the labels. Whoever wears their false label can have it ripped from their neck if we play this right. Looking back from the progressive movement all through our history and how the Republicans have slowly morphed into progressives it easy to see that the reason people hate them, is because they ain't acting like themselves. The GOP Is now that guy in a mustach wearing a wedding gown. It just don't look right and people don't know exactly why but, the dude looks like a lady.
There are a host of issues that, a certain position is attributed to Republicans (read conservatives, read neoconservatives, read progressive Republicans) that are actually originally the positions held by progressive Democrats. (read, collectivists, socialists, communists). These issues in my opinion have taken us far away from the Constitutional positions that we Ron Paul supporters hold as "conservative" but somehow we get labeled as liberals becuase the people don't know the history, or the Constitution.
Who writes laws today that deprive the American people of their essential freedom of choice? Liberal Democrats! They have ALWAYS done that including the war on drugs started with passage of the 18th Amendment which didn't ban just alcohol, but with it, a whole list of drugs that were formerlly legal. Guess what else that did, (besides create a crime culture and cost us many freedoms)? It got us dependant on oil as our country's primary fuel for transpportation. Up until passage of the 18th, most people used alcohol to power up their cars. John D Rockefeller had a waste by-product in the production of kerosene called gasoline that he was throwing away because there was little use for it until they realized that cars (duel fuel back then) could be powered up so he funded progressive women's groups and other orginizations to foment anti alcohol sentiment which lead to the 18th Amendment.
In fact, if we look at just baout every major problem this country faces right now, the policies that are depriving us of our choices, robbing us of our freedom, driving us into debt and causing us to be in constant wars are ALL brought to us by progressive Democrats.
First time going to war without a declaration. Truman. They were the party in power during WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia, Somalia and on and on and on.
They brought us the Federal Reserve, the IRS, Socialist Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Dept of Education, Dept of Agriculture, Dept of Energy, Dept of Housing,. Just for those programs ALONE there is a $68 TRILLION unfunded liability and then, ad to that the $16 TRILLION we owe to the Fed and the $1Trillion every year we spend on policing the world, and it was Democrats whi did ALL of it to us.
But we can't go around acting like we would overnight take all those programs away from the people who are dependent on them, but we can go right to the cornerstone of EVERY SINGLE ISSUE and the ONE THING that holds them all up. The ONE Bill that changed the entire country. The Federal Reserve. THAT is the starting point. From the moment they took control of our money supply ALL the other programs, policies, positions, changes, alterations and failures emerged.
It BELONGS to Democrats and them only and we need to ALWAYS attach "Democrat" to "Federal Reserve" and to "Debt". DO it when you talk to your family and friends. Do it on Face Book and Twitter and other networks. Do it when you call into radio programs and taki to "conservaitve" talk show hosts. Do it in church, school, out on the street. That is OUR narrative and it's the truth. It will rip the wedding dress off the guy with the mustach and he will start to look like himself again.
