Can someone who is still a member of PopularLiberty/DailyPaul (they blocked me there) do me a favor and create the post below there. This way anyone there who is interested in hearing my opinions can just continually come here for my running commentary

IF YOU WOULD BE SO KIND, PLEASE POST THE FOLLOWING:
SUBJECT:
After 4 1/2 years I got blocked from PL for a "misdemeanor"

BODY:
I am the former user named "Bort" from PopularLibery. After being a member in "good standing" there for 4 1/2 years I got banned from PL for what I consider to be a misdemeanor (details below). I am now posting at RonPaulForums.com (I'll abbreviate this "RPF") where I would like to "keep the conversation going". I created a "running thread" here at RPF - at the URL at the bottom of this email - where I will comment on things going on at PopularLiberty. Note that I'm well aware it's being closed in 2 weeks but I would still like to make my final comments and say goodbye.

My last post at PL (which presumably is the one I got banned for) was critical of a point made by user IreneBordini. Note that as pretext, I was arguing that Mike Nystrom should either sell PL or let someone else run it. My reasoning was that the Liberty Movement does not have time to waste rebuilding stuff that already exists and functions perfectly fine. Also, I was critical of how quickly Michael was planning to shut the site down (2 weeks notice and during the end of December). I should point out, however, that I was NOT critical of Michael's decision to stop running PL. I just felt that the "right thing to do" would be to let the site continue to exist (and under the eye of someone he trusted to continue the site).

Having said the above, IreneBordini said I was just being negative and complaining and that I should go out and create my own site (or basically do something constructive along those lines). She argued it was a good thing that PL was closing because it would open up a lot of doors for other liberty related sites to open up. My feeling is that the "market" for liberty related sites is HARDLY filled up and so it's not like it needed an opening. I also (in very sarcastic fashion) rhetorically asked if it would be a good thing if Ron Paul himself stopped working toward the cause of liberty. And how about if other liberty related websites (e.g. CorbettReport.com, TomWoods.com, SchiffRadio.com, etc) shut down. "How wonderful that would be!" Then I essentially said she was following the "broken window fallacy" that essentially says that if you break a window it's a good thing because you'll have to spend money to replace it (creating work, etc). I compared that line of thinking to Paul Krugman's line about how a fake alien invasion would be great for the US economy.

Anyway, next thing I knew, I could no longer log into Popular Liberty. I don't know who blocked me btw. I was once again very disappointed in that decision, however, because I had faithfully contributed many posts throughout my 4 1/2 years there. It seemed like a capricious decision to block me over what I (still) consider to be perfectly valid points.

Anyway, once again, if you want to follow my commentary on the closing of PL, please check the URL listed below. I will continually update this thread. Also, I want to add a quick shout out to the people at RPF who seem like good people. I will suggest this site as an alternative to PL.

User "No 7" wrote the post below. My comment on that one is "did Michael close PL because he wanted others to create their own sites?" I don't think that's the case. I think he just wanted to close his sites. However, I will also add that would it have been better if Michael never started DP/PL? Think of how much room there would be in the liberty marketplace had he not started these sites. Plus maybe we'd all be better off if the people who are posting new ideas not follow through on any of them because that would leave even more room! (yes, sarcasm).

News the site is dying has led to all sorts of new ideas posted all over the place here.

You're right Michael. You should have killed this thing a year ago.
