They are literally pirate thugs, holding ransom the most important shipping route in the world. Surely the response is not to do nothing? Or maybe just have Congress authorize the military action?
Congress doesn't technically have to authorize the strikes against Yemen. It would send a clear message if they did though.
They announced that they would be attacking our ships a couple days ago. The navy exists to protect our ships and our access to trade with our trading partners.
It would be too little too late to wait for them to attack us.

Yemen's Houthi rebels say 'any Israeli vessel' in nearby Mideast waterways again a target
Yemen’s Houthi rebels have warned shippers that “any Israeli vessel” traveling through nearby Mideast waters is now a target as Israel continues to block aid to the Gaza Strip.apnews.com
the Houthis began striking Israel-linked ships in the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait along Yemen’s coast. Those attacks expanded to include other ships with no ties to Israel, disrupting cargo and energy shipments that are critical for worldwide trade.
Since it seems to have escaped your notice, they have been attacking ships and damaging or sinking them. Not for nothin but this Houthi shit seems sus AF.
From the article, the source is "the Houthis’ Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center".
Where are these statements made?
WTF is the Humanitarian Center?
Is there any verifiable source for any of these alleged statements?
Do they have an embassy or consulate somewhere?
And then we're told that they're pirates, according to who? Our government?
This is a country that is incredibly poor with very few if any military resources.
They have small arms, rifles.
And our government has been bombing them periodically since 9/11, every few months.
Very reminiscent of the WMD lies except we were actually able to see and hear a response from Iraq/Saddam etc, saying we were full of shit.
Maybe they should stop being terrorist/pirate proxies for Iran. They are literally the poorest country in the world.
And the United States (government) is bombing them...
I mean JFC.
How's this any better than Izrael genociding Palestinians and Syrians...
This is so fucking bad.

"It is currently experiencing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
"Furthermore, Yemen faces limitations from declining revenues from relatively small oil and gas reserves and has struggled with a rapidly growing population and political instability.
"Millions of Yemenis lack access to basic necessities, such as clean water, adequate food, and healthcare, placing them in a precarious and life-threatening situation.
"This places Yemen at the precipice of becoming, or having already become, the poorest country in the world."
Not for nothin but this Houthi shit seems sus AF.

Maybe they should stop being terrorist/pirate proxies for Iran.
They have been attacking commercial ships and killing civilians so they don't need really advanced military equipment. 50 year old Soviet era weapons would work.
They are also part of a military alliance with the theocracy of Iran. They support them with weapons they use to attack commercial shipping.
The Izraeli Industrial Complex blames Iran for everything, that's on auto ignore.
So, I looked at a map and found Yemen.
That's how I've learned geography over the years, trying to locate countries we've bombed or overthrown.
I also saw that Somalia is across the street.
I'm sure that incidents of pirating are exaggerated if not outright lies.
However, people should of course be held accountable, especially if lives are lost.
But that doesn't make it ok to commit mass murder.
And Trump with the "hell rain down" line...
Like, how far have we fallen, that we're flexing on the poorest nation on the planet.
It's shameful and pathetic.
Where is the requirement that we be a global serial killer.
We could even show some compassion.
Maybe even help them (and Somalia), not with foreign welfare but voluntary charity.
Our country, and more specifically, our government, does not have to perpetuate this endless lust for blood.
Not ours, Israel's.Looks like this is just a preemptive strike because the Houthi announced they would start attacking our commercial shipping a couple days ago. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Yeah well that's because that's what happens with theocracy. Theocracy doesn't have borders. That's why Iran went to war with Iraq. That's why communism almost took over the world.
There isn't even any way to help them at this point. Nobody can do it because it's not safe to go there so nobody will do it.
You would need boots on the ground to do anything like that.
We did not install the Ba'athist Party in Iraq. And Saddam, who rose to power about 5-6 years later within the party, was not a US-appointed dictator. The degree to which Eisenhower and Kennedy favored the rise of Ba'athism in Iraq (it was Pan-Arabist, and in Syria also), was minimal. American foreign policy under Ike and JFK was actually good policy. Qasim who overthrew and murdered King Faisal was a thug. Remember, how Kennedy supported Nasser. After the JFK assassination and Six-Day War, U.S. policy swung heavily towards being nothing more than an Israeli enabler, and that went on steriods in the 90's. Still, the positivity (more like attempt to "use" Saddam lingered, especially once the Islamic Revolution occurred in Iran. I don't think it's accurate or fair to denigrate Ba'athism which Saddam was an early member of, into a simple US-appointed dictatorship. Most importantly, we weren't the same country with the same ideals in leadership, and that's why Kennedy was killed. The Israelis knew the Ba'athists and Pan-Arabism were the biggest Arab threat against them long-term, even more so than Shia, much more so. Right now, it's the Shia Iran who are the only threat remaining... but if Pan-Arabism succeeded, and JFK wasn't killed, Israel would have been forced to comply with its founding agreements, and it wouldn't have nuclear weapons, either. Syria, Libya, Iraq, Lebanon, these wouldn't have fallen under the Iranian domain as they do now, which could put us into a major war. But the Israelis convinced or maneuvered our government into deeming strong Arab secular states as unacceptable. It wasn't only the Israelis, though, it was also the BANKS... same people they are, however.Well no.
Iran ousted our dictator, the Shah, after we overthrew their democratically leader, Mossadegh via Operation Ajax in 1953.
We then punished Iran by arming our other installed dictator in Iraq, Saddam, and ordered him to attack.
While also selling weapons to Iran, Iran/Contra.
