Texas State Convention Live Stream

So we're looking at around 15 delegates out of...over 150? =/

We got a lot more than that! All I can say is we did VERY well. Much better than expected. In the email Ron Paul sent earlier this week he predicted that he'll have the support of 500 delegates at the National Convention... after experiencing the Texas Convention first hand I truly believe he will have a sizable chunk more!

Thanks to all the patriots from TX. Do us proud. At this point, don't post the the nitty gritty delegate counts per CD. All I need from you guys is a note that we are doing good and a wink.

I just got home last night from the convention.

wow from what I am reading is that no delegates are bound on the first vote by rule change at the Texas convention.

This is false.

So the Chairman pretty much admitted that delegates were unbound.

This is also false. The chairman quite deliberately avoided opening that can of worms and spoke to a specific issue without elaboration.

#CD [redacted] wins by 1 VOTE, ONE VOTE!! 123,122!! 2/3 Delegates #RonPaul #TXGOP 2 Delegates and 1 ALT for #RP #Liberty

Totally awesome. Congrats.

Quick convention update...

My CD had a great caucus this morning; we were able to put together a nice coalition with some other factions to send a really good unity slate to Tampa. We also laid a good foundation for cooperation and learned that there is actually tremendous support for most of our liberty issues.

Friendships were made and strengthened and I am very optimistic about the future of RPT. The winds of liberty were definitely blowing here today.

Very glad to hear this. IMO, this was the true opportunity for the long term.

Without giving my CD number, all three delegates from my CD are known RP supporters. Plus one of us got an at-large slot.

Totally awesome. Congrats.

never, never give our percentages or numbers!!!!!! we tried SO hard to get non-elected officials as delegates. We won the national elected official battle, we lost the state one. Many at large ones are elected establishment. We plan to bring this issue back. WE PLAN TO AT THE 2014 CONVENTION.

I don't want to give specifics, but I had a platform plank that made it in. Also on a down note, the Texas GOP officially decried the state lottery. Thanks Tea Party. On a good note, Tea Party DID help us. Most Paulites were in cognito. Booers left a sour note for our group as a whole. Many of us Paulites did MAKE ROOTS for the future in the GOP establishment. Finally the Young Conservatives of Texas were friendly to us. In general, all younger GOPers realized that we have to work together in order to broaden the 65+ age delegate crowd. Great job of professionalism and working with party people guys! I'm proud of all of you and our Meetups.

****Please don't forget to THANK Chairman Munistieri for his FAIR leadership. It was awesome!!!

(Also I met the TX GOP's official legal guy and he was also FAIR and correct in his interpretations. But please don't draw attention to him specifically, thank Munistieri for his fairness and team)

Getting ready to block any other Santorum eloi for national delegate or alternate from CD32. #rptcon #tcot #withNewt
I think that might be code...

here's to faithless electors in november. ;)

imagine this-
we have about 5 faithful Ron paul electors and the presidential election comes down to how they vote.
talk about holding all the marbles.
We probably had a dozen before Texas. 3 in Okie, 1 in Alaska, 4 in Maine, 2 in Nevada. Thats 10.

Yeah, I think we got all 4 from Maine

the guy here though, they made him sign an affidavit to vote for the republican nominee
Good we all need some extra toilet paper. I really want to see them try to enforce penalties on faithless electors.

[so far] we have about 20 #Delegates heading to #Tampa #RonPaul #TXGOP #Winning

I tweeted back asking how many were alts, not wanting to believe unless confirmed that all were...
yea i hate that. who cares about alts. yea its important in case, but most people make it to the con.

This silence is going to be annoying haha.

Just got in this afternoon. Here's a report from CDXX.

Going into the caucus, we figured we were just short of a majority and this proved accurate. But we had a list of 3 candidates for delegate and 3 candidates for alternate. Our strongest candidate was the first nominated - an individual with a reputation as a unifier. The opposition choose not to nominate their strongest candidate and our guy won overwhelmingly.

The opposition put up their strongest candidate for the second position. We put up a new comer. This individual is new to the Liberty Movement, but a passionate Ron Paul supporter and he's known in south Brazoria County from his fiery letters to the editor. In a total surprise to the caucus, he tied his seasoned opponent on the first ballot. This - a tie - had never happened before and we had a delay of about an hour as the chair consulted with the convention parliamentarian. During this time there were some late arrivals who were eventually seated, a few fence sitters changed their vote, and Tom lost on the second ballot by 12. But it was a good showing.

We put up our second strongest candidate for the third slot, against a long serving, seasoned opponent and we lost by two votes. The good news, this gentleman is only 20 years old.

We went on to pick up one of the alternate slots. CDXX : 1 delegate and 1 alternate

I have no idea which delegates/alternates (if any) from my CD are Ron Paul supporters. I don't know how the people reporting these results know either unless they just know them personally. There were no declarations of support for a presidential candidate and almost no one had a button supporting a presidential candidate, so I don't know how y'all know. Congrats to the RP people who were prepared and organized because no one in my area was, that's for sure.

Jeffster, in my CD, most of the Ron Paul supporters connected with each other via Meetup groups. We had a few meetings where we coordinated strategy on who we wanted to be nominated and critiqued speeches to while evaluating who we thought had the best chances of winning. There were tea party people in the delegation who were not part of out Ron Paul group who likely voted for our candidates, but it's not because they had any prior knowledge of who the candidates were - it was just pretty obvious that each position had one well established party insider candidate with years of service to the party and one new face candidate that no one had seen before.

Where was the official RP campaign?!!

It's too bad you had to communicate through meetup groups. If the campaign was there with the full database, you could have won even more in TX.

You're right, RonRules. We had several people so far incognito, we couldn't ID them until DAY TWO. Some were STILL incognito from us at the last convention day.

Ah, thanks Bern. You too.

Jeffster--So the plan worked! Did you not contact the Meetup Groups/Facebook? We were supposed to dress for success, be respectful/peaceful (no booing when Romney was mentioned--yes there was a text that told people to stop), and look like GOP. We had a texting system that we all used. We were successful and grew those roots.

what was the final count? anyone know? I was gone all weekend so just tryin to play catch up now.

Am i reading correctly that a vote was passed to unbound delegates as well?

No, I had no idea what meetup groups/Facebook groups to contact. I gave my information to several people on this forum and the official campaign, as well as the group that did the delegate training before the county convention, and none of those people ever contacted me after county.
