Texas House Bans Offensive Security Pat-Downs

The Texas House passed a bill that would make it a criminal offense for public servants to inappropriately touch travelers during airport security pat-downs.

Approved late Thursday night, the measure makes it illegal for anyone conducting searches to touch “the anus, sexual organ, buttocks, or breast of another person” including through clothing.

It also prohibits searches “that would be offensive to a reasonable person.”

The bill’s chief sponsor is Republican Rep. David Simpson, who said, “this has to do with dignity and travel, and prohibiting indecent, groping searches.”

He believes it will keep Transportation Security Administration officials from treating travelers like criminals, though the measure may be superseded by federal law.

Ok so this passed the Texas House, does it have a shot of passing (or even being brought up) in the Senate? I'm sure if it goes get passed Perry will have no problem signing it, he'd get so much press and he's quite the attention whore.

Based on the fact that most of Texas' state legislators are only Faux liberty lovers, I would have to say that they have NO intention of this passing. ---- Just like Perry, they are all show and no go.

Whats really bad is the local Radio hosts like Dan Patrick continue the slight of hand manipulation of the public-- Dan would blame it all on the FEDS instead of the weak Texans for not making a stand for states right autonomy. He would NOT expose their capitulation of power.

This is interesting, but according to the man who wrote the legislation that gave rise to the TSA, airports have the ability to completely toss out the TSA and he suggested they do just that.

So, perhaps the better avenue is to be putting pressure on the airports.

Yah, good ole Dan Patrick... Rick Perry is his daddy... Dan Patrick is Pat Gray's daddy (Beck Program douche, previously employed by Patrick)... I guess that means Pat Gray is Rick Perry's grandson... He must have gotten the switch taken to his hide, as he doesn't criticize Pa-Paw as much anymore, and tells his half-brother Glenny not to either...

That radio station was interesting (or not) during the last race for governor... Dan Patrick wouldn't really toot the Perry horn on the radio in an effort to not seem biased (but would go and introduce him at events)... Then the other host (Ed Hendy?) would only say "I like Hutch, but I'm good with either!", giving no reasons/details, meaning "I'm not allowed to speak out against Perry, plus we want to seem unbiased so I'll say I prefer Kay though I sneak out of the house every night to go smooch with Rick.." Most of their on-air time was spent dismissing Medina when callers would inquire about her...

Patrick seems to be Perry's mouth/hand in the state senate and has decent influence from what I can tell, so we shall see... Oh and did he love him some Cain last week...jackhole!

Yes, an airport system can "opt out" of using TSA and hire private contractors.

But, the private contractors must adhere to all TSA policies.

It’s not as if the agency recognizes any fundamental right not to be subject to the scanners, after all. The pat-downs began as a PR move, easing resistance to the introduction of the scanners by giving travelers a (conditional) choice. I am a little suprised at you. You should be ashamed of yourself. Being from Texas you should know that David Simpson is a hard working Ron Paulite. He was the organizer in East Texas in 07, ran for Delegate spot as a Ron Paul supporter at the state convention in 08, then ran for State Rep. in '10 and beat out a Neocon Liberal Republican incumbent. He is doing exactly what Ron Paul asked of us. To bash him without research is insulting.
