Ted Cruz: Rand Paul Can't Win Because of Ron Paul

If you really support Rand you won't keep pushing this. If you make it a really bitter fight between the two, the supporters of the two candidates will do anything but support the candidate that pulls ahead and that WILL assure a Christy victory.

I don't think it'll work. If Rand lost and Cruz won, I'd vote Cruz no matter what happened in the primary. I'd suspect people who vote Cruz would do the same for Rand.

Obviously this theory of mine discounts a lot a lot of posters on RPF, who are extremists and don't represent the average potential Rand voter.

Cruz will just split the anti-establishment vote and destroy our last chance. He knows that Rand is the one who has a chance of winning the general election...he must know this. Why would he threaten the progress we've made for no good reason?

So Rand's position on marriage is "controversial" to Iowa Republicans simply because he thinks that marriage is a state issue? How do these people ever expect to win another general election for President if they want to nationalize every single social issue?

The article says this:

“I’d want clarification on those issues because it is a concern,” said Tamara Scott, the Iowa national Republican committeewoman, who has spent time with both men.

The New York Times plays divide and conquer, don't fall for it.

I swear that Jonathan Martin's sole purpose on this planet is to try to sow discord within the Republican party.

Unless times is going name names, this is all crap. Anyone can write a divisive article with anonymous "sources".

They are so obvious.

How about a story about all of the snide "inside" remarks that are going on between the Hillary and Biden camps? Anonymously sourced, of course.

This is the meat of the story:

But when Mr. Cruz went to New York City to meet with donors this summer, he privately offered a different view of Mr. Paul: The Kentucky senator can never be elected president, he told them, because he can never fully detach himself from the strident libertarianism of his father, former Representative Ron Paul of Texas.

Word of Mr. Cruz’s remarks reached Mr. Paul’s inner circle, touching off anger and resentment.

Nothing from the traitorous NYT of course about Cruz being a born British (Canadian) subject or a natural Cuban....

Honestly, this wouldn't surprise me. It's going to happen sooner or later just a matter of time. People ya gotta know this shit is coming...

Why would it even be a concern? A lot of the other possible Presidential contenders have said that it would be best to handle marriage at the state level, including Rubio.

I have no doubt that a senior establishment figure within the Republican Party was the source.

The idea is to call Cruz an extreme conservative and Paul an extreme libertarian, then turn them against one another, get them attacking one another and get them running against one another in 2016, so that their favored candidate, most likely Chris Christie, wins the Republican nomination.

The only question is, is Cruz himself actively part of the establishment plan?

I think Rand's best tack here is to offer to appoint Cruz to SCOTUS in exchange for him standing down and endorsing Rand in 2016.

If Cruz refuses such an offer and runs anyway, we know he's an establishment(GSachs) plant.

I doubt he's part of the establishment plan.

As Alex Jones points out, many establishment figures have demonstrated they have a seething hatred of Cruz.

If they make Cruz think that Rand too hates his guts in private, they encourage Cruz to run against Rand.

i always love provacatuers from the left whom have no problem were it them doing these things themselves they deem provocative in the eyes of others

This piece is hilarious, trying to sow discord between friends. ROFL

Bullshit. My uncle who thought very little of Ron Paul if perhaps a slight negative connotation mentioned he's behind Rand. Of course this is just one anecdotal case but it proves this concept of his father's legacy interfering wrong.

Biden won't run against Hillary. Never going to happen. If she's in, he's out.

Relax, in reality they are good friends and won't do anything to hurt each other's chances if both run. If anything Cruz being more extreme paints Rand as more electable.
