Teacher arrested for novel

Ok, so is there something "wrong" with me if I'm reading "Rage" and laughing my ass off about every other page? I mean, the book is clearly a bit demented but the main character is a funny mofo.

Well Rage was good. The first half was dementedly funny, but the 2nd half kinda dragged on... which brings me to "The Long Walk". that was certainly an unexpected read. I didn't know anything going into it, its kinda a dragging on version of the hunger games but without any of the love scenes, fight scenes or anything except a long slow grinding down. Lots of backstory that never got filled in -- probably a good thing. I think I enjoyed it more than Rage.

For the King fans. Looks like they are remaking The Stand.

On February 25, 2014, it was reported that Josh Boone was hired to write and direct the adaptation.[17] On August 25, 2014, The Wrap reported that Matthew McConaughey is being courted for the main antagonist, Randall Flagg.[18] On September 10, 2014, Boone announced the script has been completed and that pre-production is currently underway. The adaptation will be a single film of three hours.[19]

this shit is for real. emergency medical evaluation is code for being sent to a concentration camp.

the dude is not going to get paid. He is all but lost now. As soon as I hear "mental" evaluation it's game over for him. All it takes is for the State appointed psychiatrist to say yeah he's got a "mental illness" and I recommend involuntary treatment, and the guy is toast.

They will hold him down and stab him with a needle full of neurotoxins giving him a chemical lobotomy.

If you think the courts or due process are going to protect him, you are WRONG. The case will be SEALED in the name of protecting the guys health privacy. He won't be allowed to have visitors. He will only be able to see a lawyer who will be powerless to stop what is happening because the lawyer won't have any knowledge on how these "cases" proceed.

he wont be brought up on any criminal charges, it will all go down in a secret "civil" court held inside the janitor closet of the hospital.

Hey, sounds like Germany in the late 30's and early 40's.

Stephen King, writing as Richard Bachmann, wrote about flying planes into buildings to blow them up, "The Running Man" and about a school shooting, "Rage".

An alias, terroristic thoughts and a school shooting.

Arrest him.

Stephen King was still an English Teacher when he published Carrie which featured a psychic killfest in the final scene. I guess he would've have been arrested if he wrote that today while still part of a school faculty.

Sweet Jesus...this is not America anymore.

No, it's not. And stupid/deluded/deceived people keep pushing for more more more of what is destroying us. It's going to be worse than Hitler in the US before these fascists are done, and the very idiots who brought it in are still going to be blaming us for trying to stop it. Ten will get you $100 that as the neocon useful idiots are getting loaded up into the boxcars they will be bitching about "fucking Ron Paul isolationists" completely oblivious to the fact that it was their hand on the throttle all along.

Ugh - lots of love stories under his belt

The cast looks like a lot of Hollywood nepotism: Ron Howard's kid, Phil Collins' kid, Polly Draper's kid, a Huston...King's works almost always seem to be better in the mini series format. But he's such a socialist - I look forward to the torrent.

Love The Stand. Hate this cast. The only character that looks even remotely appropriate is Josh Peck as Nick Andros. I may have to wait for the dregs too. As much as I might be first in line to see The Stand at the theaters, this cast utterly demolishes my excitement. :(

I once explained to an Republican acquaintance (in a room full of Republican-leaning people) that voting for a Democrat was like driving toward the edge of a cliff at 70 mph, while voting for a Republican was like driving toward the same cliff at 45 mph (My rationale: get past their initial defense by seemingly suggesting their premise that Republican is better than a Democrat is accurate) while voting for a third party candidate was like applying the brakes before shifting into reverse.

The die-hards all accused me of wanting to give the country over to the "liberals". But the analogy got through to a few people.

Yeah I am always happy to see Josh get a job. Matthey McConawhatever isn't even playing Flagg? Weird.

Only thing in the cast that looks good to me is Brad Dourif as Trash Can Man. He will nail that role despite any amateur director he's stuck with.

Should have let Frank Darabont do The Stand. I mean what, he's only done The Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, and The Mist. Plus helping to kick off The Walking Dead !?!

He's earned it and I respect how he's handled other King stories as well as being able to juggle an ensemble cast.

Viola Davis looks way too young to play Mother Abigail.

And...

LOL, WAT? TMI!!!
