Three days ago, on Thanksgiving morning, Rep. Rashida Tlaib couldn't bring herself to wish her constituents (whom she despises) a happy Thanksgiving.

Instead, we got a Twitter/X post that said: "Let’s all remember to honor Indigenous people today by uplifting Indigenous voices and defending Indigenous rights."

She is a creature of Western Civilization, wholly dependent on it, swimming in it, and as unaware of its significance as a fish attempting to understand the concept of being wet.

If she could somehow actually do it, that might feel good for about two weeks. Until the power and water and internet service stopped working. Those are Western Civilization, too.

As for the humiliation, well, everybody on the planet who isn't White has a choice to make.

She can regard Western Civilization as a yoke around her neck, spend her whole life coping and seething, and fighting against only to lose because it's just better.

Or she can regard it as a good idea that some dead guys had, and she doesn't have to pass up good ideas just because the dudes who had them were blond.
