To be fair, "racism" (or "misogyny" / "homophobia" / "transphobia" / etc.) is not "any opinion a white person holds that differs from what the growing minority wants". Rather, "racism" (or "misogyny" / "homophobia" / "transphobia" / etc.) is any opinion anyone holds (regardless of their race, sex, etc.) that differs from what progressive leftists want. There are plenty of black "racists", gay "homophobes", and the like to be found out there in the real world (i.e., outside of academia, "woke" activism & punditry, corporate HR departments, and other such unsavory venues).

Progressives will continue exploiting such accusations (for money and socio-political power) as long as enough people continue letting those accusations put them back on their heels [1]. Piers' mistake was in trying to defend himself against the accusation. Instead, he should have just thrown it back in Cornel's face: "Yeah, okay, I'm a 'racist' [insert finger-quotes and/or an eye-roll here]. Whatever. So the fuck what?". Unless and until that kind of response (e.g., indifferent rejection) gains more social currency, progressives will continue abusing the concept of "racism" (or "misogyny" / "homophobia" / "transphobia" / etc.) to their advantage.

[1] Conservatives (ever the belated mimics of progressives) and establishment Democrats are getting in on the game, too - presently with "muh antisemitism" (though it doesn't seem to be working quite as well - they're not as well-practiced with employing the technique as progressives are).

Israel has all the experience the neocons need.
Remember, they likely taught progs how. Antisemitic Jews are legion these days.

I remember in the early 90's I got into a conversation about "political correctness". A friend of mine said the media is just being "politically correct" which is why it seems they favor the democrats. Of course, I asked the question, "well, then, who defines what is politically correct?" It was then that the circular logic became clear to him.

Truth.

That was what I was ordinally going to reply to Frank with.

All of those terms lose all their meaning when no more fucks are given by the people they are thrown at.
