yes, while they're not too up to date with how US is turning socialist, they generally would prefer being a US MUCH LESS than a Chinese province (at least being a Chinese province they're recognized as an economic free region, and they trade with Chinese speakers).

Taiwan is currently in too much financial pressure to be thinking about fiscal conservative, national defense and abiding by the Constitution.

In reality, Taiwanese people don't hate China or care for independence, they just want to live their lives. It's the same for Americans who don't hate Mexicans and Mexicans who don't want southeast of the States to be reconquested. Palestinians don't want Jews dead either, they just want to be safe and fed, give them comfort and they'll have less reason to fight.

When your well being (safety, health, finances) are in trouble, your country and flag becomes secondary.

I think it's more likely that America will become a Chinese territory, before anything like that would happen. We already owe the chinese a few trillion dollars, I don't think we should try to piss off the red dragon more.

Besides every country that loves "capitalism" and "freedom", does not belong to America. If that's true then you should try to claim Turkey and Brazil.

There's also a little matter of a completely different culture, religion, race, heritage, and history. Oh and their consent. They want there independence from China. I doubt if they want to become apart of another evil empire just for kicks.
