Supreme Court Justice Scalia dies on hunting trip

I'm pretty sure he's a willing puppet if you are familiar with his background. Intelligence agency ties which span back to his mother and possibly her father.

O hasn't done anything that W didn't put in place- just following in his forerunner's footsteps.

BTW- not justifying O- just sayin' second verse, same as the first. This puppet syndrome is the reason I woke up to Ron Paul in the first place.

All shadow governments need a charismatic front man. I seriously doubt O is 'running the country' on a day-to-day basis.

ugh.....life tenure ceases when you die.

Prediction:

The Senate will delay this vote as long as possible. Hillary Clinton, in an effort to shore up support for her candidacy, will run with the idea that if she gets elected, she will appoint Obama to the Supreme Court.

And, it will work.

you sent a shiver down my spine.

Though to add to your prediction, I wonder if the Democrat establishment won't force confirmation from the senate as the Clinton machine would love to nominate their judge. There will still be a media war to attack republicans so democrats aren't in the minority in the 2017 senate.

The majority of the elected officials don't care.

The majority of elected officials do as they are told. There is a meeting with the freshmen and the leadership after each election and they are notified that they will fall-in-line or they will be out of a job next cycle. The elected officials care about keeping their 'job' (if you can call it that). They will do as they are told.

You're probably right. But he could at least slow it down.

....good grief, people!!...although we should be saddened when anyone dies, scalia was another in a loooooooooooooooooong line of republicrat puppets who never once, to my knowledge, (and he had his cakehole open a lot!!) acknowledged the hideous HIDEOUS monetary order under which we all groan...(at least in terms this monetary realist could respect)

...for someone who obviously thought a lot of himself and his 'supreme' sense of 'justice' he, like all republicrats, had a HUGE hole in his under$tanding...either that or he was a miserable crook and/or coward...take your pick, republicrats!!

For heavens sake, send the least senior justice on a vacation (a lib by the way) and do the Countries business. The lib progs should love that since it is in line with the union mentality. Win win for us all!

Suckers cheering on the elites.

The next president could be the one making the appointment, and if that person is a Democrat with a Democratic Senate, there's not much the GOP can do for long. The stakes are enormous. We could secure abortion rights for a long time to come if not once and for all, not worrying about Roe being in peril. Labor unions, affirmative action, the death penalty, global climate change, campaign finance, Wall Street reform, immigration and so many other issues can all be affected in dramatically positive and fundamental ways.

Abolish the Supreme Court

Abolish the Supreme Court

FEBRUARY 15, 2016 Ryan McMaken
The current frenzy over the vacancy on the Supreme Court in the wake of Scalia’s death should be enough to make it clear to even the most naïve observer that the Supreme Court is a partisan and political institution, and nothing like the group of disinterested non-political sages that we are supposed to believe the court to be. As I wrote in “The Mythology of the Supreme Court,” the idea of the court as a group of jurisprudential deep thinkers is a tale for little school children:

This view of the court is of course hopelessly fanciful, and the truly political nature of the court is well documented. Its politics can take many forms. For an example of its role in political patronage, we need look no further than Earl Warren, a one-time candidate for president and governor of California, who was appointed to the court by Dwight Eisenhower. It is widely accepted that Warren’s appointment was payback for Warren’s non-opposition to Eisenhower’s nomination at the 1952 Republican convention. The proposition that Warren somehow transformed from politician to Deep Thinker after his appointment is unconvincing at best. Or we might point to the famous “switch in time that saved nine” in which Justice Owen Roberts completely reversed his legal position on the New Deal in response to political threats from the Franklin Roosevelt administration. Indeed, Supreme Court justices are politicians, who behave in the manner Public Choice theory tells us they should. They seek to preserve and expand their own power.

Congress can set the number of Supreme Court justices to whatever it wants. There is no reason the seat has to be filled.

There ya go! Layoff the junior for awhile. Hell, they could rotate them...
But if there isn't an odd number there will be ties and from what I understand the ruling of the previous court would stand.

And the matters that matter most, would probably end up being channeled to the 9th...
