Can someone please explain to me how he is getting away with being the "Pro-Life candidate"???

I came across this older article the other day about how Santorum voted to fund planned parenthood:

http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/po...oted-to-subsidize-abortion-planned-parenthood

Of course, this was only for contraception (which makes things even more confusing), but it's still funding PP. I mentioned this to a family member who's strongly pro-life who said that Santorum was his guy on facebook. His response was:

"Thanks for the link. The problem I have with it is that Marjorie Denefelser is endorsing Rick. She hates PP ten times more than I do. She is why PP is getting defunded. There isn't a snow ball's chance in hell she would endorse a less than prolife candidate. See here: http://www.sba-list.org/newsroom/press-releases/sba-list-endorses-rick-santorum "

I really don't know how to respond. He voted to fund Planned Parenthood! He endorsed a pro-choice candidate! His campaign has been all about exploiting the social conservative "niche".

So how is he getting away with this and what do you think is the best response?

I have posted the article above on Rick's Facebook page many times. People throw it off as being biased to Ron Paul. I highly doubt they have followed the links in the story and looked into the things he mentioned in it.

If I remember correctly, in one of the last debates, Romney tried to defend himself as being pro-life, because he didn't fund abortions, to which Santorum replied that money is unfungible. Santorum's argument was that, while Romney funded institution who did abortions, he was surely funding abortions, because money will flow to pay for abortions, even if it's not discriminate in the bill the governor signed.

That's EXACTLY THE SAME thing here. Santorum funded Planned Parenthood, although its purpose was to finance birth control (which makes him, at least, an hypocrite). Hence, by the same reason Santorum uses to say Romney was a pro-choice governor, Santorum can be said to have been a pro-choice senator.

Yep. And with all this contraceptive talk going on, it makes his position even more baffling.

We all know any Planned Parenthood spending is DOA with a President Paul. You can't say the same for Santorum.

If Santorum actually gets the nomination, he is going to pull the biggest 180 ever and the social conservatives who voted for him will realize they've been hoodwinked.
