I generally don't like this guy.
"People who support drug prohibition are racist. Historically. And statistically."
.....Just stop. I understand the hyperbole or the turn-about there, but it's still an absurd thing to say.
No, it isn't. First off, as you yourself recognize, it is hyperbole for effect. Remember, people criticizing the welfare state routinely get called racist... even though, as Molyneux points out, it is the welfare state itself which is racist.
Likewise, drug prohibition is unfairly prosecuted, and creates an incredibly racist cycle of destruction which only further splinters everything as families are split apart for non-violent drug crimes like possession. This is a cycle; as each money earner goes to prison, it often forces the family to turn to either welfare, crime, or both.
So we have people preaching family values, while the policies they demand splinter minority families. They decry the welfare state, when a racist justice system that ripped families apart forces mothers onto welfare. They decry crime, when in this family, it's often more feasible for a son to turn to crime than get a job, given the social environment.
Who are the racists? If you are for enslavement, are you racist? Then what if you support a system that you know imprisons more blacks than whites for something like marijuana possession, even if more whites than blacks smoke marijuana?
At some point we need to recognize this. Stand up for liberty.
