A racially charged activist group called “Color of Change” founded by Van Jones, a special advisor to the Obama Administration, is trying to silence popular radio and Fox News personality Glenn Beck by calling for a boycott of Beck’s TV advertisers.

On July 28th, Beck made a comment on the Fox & Friends morning show about Obama’s reaction to the arrest of Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. During the discussion of “Professor-Gate,” Beck connected the President’s past association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright to Obama’s comment that Cambridge police officer, Sgt. James Crowley, acted stupidly. Though Beck acknowledged most of the Obama administration is in fact white, he concluded that the President’s world experience made him a “racist.”

Now “Color of Change” has bullied at least five of Beck’s big advertisers -- SC Johnson, Progressive Insurance, Geico, Procter & Gamble and Nexus Lexis -- to pull their ads from Beck’s national cable program. Jones, the founder of “Color of Change,” was named Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality -- a key administrative post -- this past March.



Putting tax-payer dollars to dubious use, the not-for-profit organization has hired well-heeled Hollywood publicist Ken Sunshine to further instigate the boycott.

Here we have the White House trying to strongarm a figure who, while not really a journalist, is arguably in journalism, with no deference at all to the First Amendment. And they're doing it not with the FBI or the ATF or even the IRS. They're doing it with the withdrawal of sponsorship by major corporations, and these corporations are 'playing ball' with verve. And yet there are still some who believe that the anti-health bill protestors are the ones representing the insurance companies and other big corporations, not the president.

YES he vets them..he is one of them. THat's what has happened to our country. The Black Panthers was formed by the Communist Party in the USA. G Edward Griffin has a lot of great video's on the communist infiltration of the USA. He and Ron Paul are both Birchers...the Democrat Party is really the Communist Party...they took over the Democrat Party years ago. The Communists saw the blacks in the USA as the Proletariat. They grouped up the blacks and got them into the labor unions. There is a book by a communist bolshevik leader..John Pepper, called "America's Negro Problems" ..and it is about the Communist Party's agenda to use the blacks in the south to bring down the capitalist pigs. These idiot executives are not doing their research before jumping the gun and coming out against Beck. They just see it comes from a group called "colorofchange" and go in all out panic mode since they think it is a legitimate African American rights organization.

All they had to do is perform a simple internet search or look at the profile on the colorofchange site which shows the co-founder , James Rucker was a former director of Moveon.org. Van Jones who founded the organization is an open Communist. There is much documentation to back up his statements where he claims to be a Communist.

I don't think it has to do with the name of the org, I think these people are activists. They get a few thousand people to call and email, and they say we have 100,000 members (or whatever it is), we have blogs that are well read, we have other orgs on our side and if you don't pull out we will boycott you. And the executives say "fuck it". "Why deal with this bullshit when I can the same amount of viewers on another guy and not get boycotted? Why deal with it?"

If you want to reverse it you use the same tactics against them. That's how the country works.

Well it's how the Stalinistic/Pro-Communist generation of America works because they can't accept Obama is a racist marxist, they've been doing boycotts like this for who knows how long. I seriously doubt Glenn Beck will be fired over it, just for the fact he has massive ratings. Which is something that is rare for that timeslot. And-- Fox News is probably making more $ than ever. Just watch an O'Reilly episode, he's been talking about FOX's ratings durring this whole Healthcare debate.

No. I haven't read that. But people have called him a commie socialist, anti-American, etc., for not wearing an American flag pin. I just don't agree with that approach and it bothers me that this appointee will get in under the radar because of hysterical crap like that and because of all the focus on extremists at health care debates.

His right-hand man Emanuel is certainly going to take every opportunity to ensure that all this creepy stuff gets passed/appointed on Friday afternoons when everyone's freaking out about a guy with a gun legally at a townhall.

I suppose my restraint doesn't matter anyways, because if the right wing didn't provide fodder, they'd make some for us to distract from what they're really up to.

A quick google pulled up a lot of hits but few speak particularly about what exactly he was arrested for. All I can find is it was in San Fran during the Rodney King riots and apparently he took part in them somehow. This doesn't paint a very nice picture of him: (though Ill never fault him for not being a fan of cops)

Returning to Van Jones, with all the shimmer associated with a rising star, many forget that a man now advising the president was a member of a revolutionary organization in the SF Bay Area called STORM (Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement). Throughout the group’s history, Van Jones was seen as a public figure within the Bay Area left and a leading member of STORM.

STORM had its roots in a grouping of people of color organizing against he Gulf War in the early 1990’s and was formally founded in 1994.
